What kind of gear do u have?
However, I do own 3 guitars; one being a fender strat (plays like a brick with strings), a vintage westone pantera x300 model, and an ESP EX 351 (discontinued model) which is very sweet (go to musicansfriend.com and look for EX 400, it's basically the same guitar with the exception of pickups).
I am now looking to buy a half stack to play some shows and stuff with, but my crate GX-212 is powerful enough for smaller venues.Quote of the year (2003):

I don't have a drumkit, I use a guitar program (tabit) to write the music down, that way I can see what sounds good together and change stuff if need be.

I own a Gibson Flying V and an Ibanez RG570 with a 25watt amp (doh).

If you like mean distortion that sounds like a baby is being raped everytime you play a note, try getting a hold of some last generation crates (their new models blow). Rule of thumb with crate, if it has a "rthym" and a "solo" channel, it's a piece of ****. But if it has a "gain 1" and a "gain 2" channel, you know you're in business.Quote of the year (2003):

I'm def. gonna throw EMGs 81 & 85. A friend of mine has them and they are ****ing insane (amazing crunchy distortion , clear squeeling harmonics and no hum at all). Active pickups just plainly RULE. Ever wonder how a palm muted lead could sound in the V with EMGs and 12g strings? Wohhoooo
I'll search for crate models thanks.

That's cool. I personally prefer the raw aggression and machismo of a heavy band like Pantera to get my adrenaline and testosterone flowing. I'm not much of a rap fan, but I can certainly appreciate the rhythmic aspect behind it having an effect on some people, as you said. It's an interesting point you make about the fluid movements in lifting mixing with rap beats; never really thought about that before.
Sometimes i will lift along with the beat of the song, its almost like i am dancing while lifting. It helps my mental focus and gets me pretty good workouts.

i love heavier music but that stuff calms me down more than pumps me for a workout.
on my current workout cd i have
the blank theory
rammstein
ill nino - lifeless life (absolutely phenomonal for workout)
chimaira - dead inside
all i could name off the top oc my head. there's some other stuff like avenged sevenfold, drowning pool, static-x, etc.
but definitely check out the ill nino song!
