I am always seeing thread about how much weight you can lose in a week (and I am guilty of this too) but now I have a different question.
By how much can you reduce your body fat weekly, being safe.
My goal is to be at 225 lbs by the end of December and have 18-20 % BF.
So wanted to know.

i dont think u can even put an estimate on it because take my case for example, i went from training in football and having a 16% bf cuz i was eatin bad **** in college and hit this summer went on a strict diet, hit the weights hard, did fball drills, and lil running. I weigh the most i have ever had 186, beginning of the year i weighed 172. i came out of school weighing around 183. so i gained about 3lbs from being on a strict diet and have lost fat and have made incredible strength gains.

When I was almost your weight (285), I lost like 8 pounds the first week - probably mostly water - then was able to maintain an average of about 2.25 pounds of weightloss per week over time. Some weeks it'd be like 3 or 4 pounds, some weeks nothing. About 1% per week tops.
I wasn't doing much weight training then though (this was a few years ago). Just a lot of cardio and dieting.
Now, while weight training and dieting (and now at 198 pounds), I'm lucky to lose 1 pound in a week, while gaining some muscle. But the differences in my appearance happen either way and reflect that I'm adding some muscle. 1% bf reduction every 2 or 3 weeks.
I hope that helps.I see that you've come to a battle of the wits unprepared.

Not sure about how much body fat % per week, but I do know that losing the bodyweight gradually (as in 1-2 pounds per week) is the best way to go to ensure you're losing mostly all fat and not hard-earned lean muscle.
If you cut your calories too drastically all at once and begin losing more than 2 pounds per week on average, you WILL be losing lean muscle along the way...which is not what you want, as this only slows down your metabolism...not speed it up for optimal fat loss and muscle preservation.
Hope this helps some.

You can't really say what BF% you can lose a week, because it would be almost impossible (and extremely dangerous) to try to lose a certain %BF weekly. Rather, it is whatever percent fat you calculate after losing a max of 2 lbs of fat a week.
Losing 2 lbs at 180lbs is a lot different BF% than losing 2 lbs at 100lbs.
