Man, I've basically heard horror stories about Aspartame
And Sucralose (Splenda) sounds almost as bad
It's like the only thing you can do if you want a decent drink is go to regular lame-ass soda or juice.
I guess I'm going to abandon diet soda altogether.
(Of course most of the info about side-effects comes from animal studies, but it still raises a big issue)

You will probably find someone who has bad things to say about any sweetener--regular or non-caloric. Still, it is my opinion that Stevia is the safest non-caloric sweetener available. You will find it used in some products, but not many. It can be purchased in health food stores and in the "health food" section of grocery stores.
Always learning.

I've used splenda for a while now, haven't heard anything damaging about it. It's used in diet rite cola i think, the only cola right now with splenda in it. I've given up sodas, and haven't tasted this one in a long time, but if it's something you drink you may want to try it.

I'm not going to say I have proof myself, or that I know that the research is positive--but the thing is the compounds that make up the artificial sweeteners break up and can be absorbed by the body.
Just because "you" haven't had any problems, doesn't mean anyone else won't. That's like recommending YOUR workout to someone else.
But you yourself are correct, I'm still going to read more about these things. It's so insane--like aspartame can cause Multiple-Sclerosis symptoms.
