    Are you high
    Who's your buddy ?

    Is your buddy 6 % bodyfat 225lbs, 5'7", with 20 inch arms ?
I would guess not since he doesn't take glutamine, luceine and arginine or protein supplements.
    Never quit!

    A.A. & Glutamine

BCAA's (Branch Chain Amino Acids) and L-Glutamine are the way to go. Your "training partner" should learn to read about that stuff cause what he's telling you is f*cking stupid.

What does he mean by amino acids?

is he talking about individual ones like arginine, leucine ect (glutamine is an amino acid).

If he is talking about tablets than he is right.

Glutamine is usefull. Maybe not as a seperate supplement got some but as an amino acid in the body it is necessary.

He probably means not for most people or even most athletes, but for bodybuilders who train hard all week then yes, some will need them.

glutamine is essential for recovery of your muscles, especially if you are cutting. if you are bulking you can really get away without using because you're most likely getting plenty in your diet assuming you are truly bulking.

I really don't think ANY of the supplements we take are really "essential"...
Consider the fact that in "ancient" (like up intil the 70's,lol)times people lifted weights and simply ate a lot of meat & bread for excellent results.
Supps are the result of the gotta have it consumer mentality in this country which unfortunately the majority of us buy into.Hell just llook at what I'm using.
Also think of this...guys in prison don't have access to protein shakes & pills etc...they get their results on will supplemented with only egg whites, bread and chicken.
Is this guilt & shame the price I pay
I hate myself for this weakness
    I won't be chained to the earth-Hatebreed

    Supps I'm currently using:
    creatine monohydrate
    CLA
    ALA
    glutamine
    flax
    multivitamin
    B complex
    gingko biloba
    omega 3
18 grams l-arginine for GH release
Myoplex mass shake after lifting & a regular myoplex shake on rest days for extra protein

Yeah, I mean look at Conan the Barbarian. They put him to work turning a big stone wheel as a kid. He only ate gruel. Look how big he got!

    Lol.....my point exactly!

Uhhhh, but what I really meant is that amino acids, creatine and protein re included in a healthy diet already and some of us (myself included) go overboard on supps.
