Loss of Appetite

I used to have a very big appetite. But then about 3 weeks ago, I have not been very hungry. I have sometimes forgotten to eat, being engrossed in work. Before I would have hunger pangs. I dont have hunger pangs now until 18 hours after my last meal. As a result I have lost 8 lbs. Why am I losing my appetite?

Thanks

Could be a lot of different things. Maybe some physical, but more likely is mental or emotional or even stress related. You mentioned getting engrossed in work - this is one possibility.

Take a look at what might have changed in the past 3 weeks - both in diet and it your life. Chances are something will become evident as the source of your appetite loss. If this self examination does not reveal anything, consider talking to your doctor to eliminate any possible medical causes.

Agree with Dan, its most likely emotional or mental rather than any physical problems. I have only had this one time in my life, when I went through a tough breakup, i worked out as usual to pass the time but I was rarely getting hungry, i lost about 10 pounds in 2 weeks, in think the only thing that saved my muscles in that time was that I was hitting the weights hard and forcing whey and creatine down my throat.

So yes, its probably stress, emotional trauma, or something similar, only you can know what, if none of that applies to you, then definately go and see a doctor.
