    Lineman, cant do squats

I know squats are very valuable for lineman, all positions in fact. I am a lineman, play both ways but i am unable to do squats due to multiple knee injuries. How bad will this affect me? Can i do something in replace?

as far as im aware theres not much u can do for your knees if they're that bad. I mean mabye leg press, or extentions (yes i said it extentions). But theres not much else, and as far as it being detrimental to your football career...ya it probably will affect u being a lineman your leg strength is essential to u.

If your knees don't all you to do do squats then just see if leg curls and leg extensions hurt your knees and also make sure you do stiff legged deadlifts to help your legs also.

I read that box step ups work as a nice alternative. I believe they said a sturdy box knee high would work. Simply start with light dumbells and concentrate on your posture. You guys can correct me if i'm wrong but it does pack muscle in your arse and help with your explosion. Hope this helps

Maybe try hack squats or sled squats. A lot less tension on the knees.

x2, leg extension is very, very, very hard on your knees in general. Doing them with a bum knee is just asking for trouble.
