Melatonin
I'm on a new sleep (sleepless) cycle because of work. For 3 days now, I've not been able to get enough good sleep. So I'm considering trying some melatonin to use as a sleep aid; it would be taken post lifting which I do when I get off shift.
Has anyone used melatonin as a sleep aid? Did you experience any side affects...ie-continued drowsiness/sleepiness throughout the day after waking? Is there any particular brand/make of melatonin or are they all pretty much the same?
Any advice from anyone on the use of melatonin as a sleep aid is appreciated in advance.

melatonin is produced naturally in your body, and is safe if you take the recommended dosage (around 3mg). the effects wear off about 7-8 hours after injesting the pill, so side effects during the day are pretty much non existant for the most part.
i use it every once in a while since its so cheap.

it used to knock me out good, I stopped taking it for a week or two, now it doesn't have much effect on me. But its a good product, did its job for me.

I have heard good things about it. I don't think it is the type of thing you can get dependent on. I would give it a try and see how it works for you.

Thanks
Thanks all...I just ordered some on BB.com; it really was inexpensive. I'm looking forward to trying it! Actually wish I had some already...oh to sleep!

Consider searching...
Melatonin is not something to be used often, it's best for use to reset your body clock.
You might want to try ZMA instead...it's cheap also, and works, and has no issues with long-term usage.

Ive found a great sleep stack to be Melatonin, Valerian root extract, and Kava Kava. No bad effects, lighter than traditional sleeping medication, but does the job...

Melatonin is great, but my experience with it is only for taking care of jet lag.

dito, Melatonin is awesome. I use it a few times a week. Quality sleep, keeps me a sleep as well. wake up refreshed, no dependecy, no tolerance buildup. I use (1) 3mcg tablet prior to bed. Oh and it's cheap as hell too

I actually am using ZMA, it is not helping with my current situation. I don't want or plan on using Melatonin on a permanent basis; just to get myself straightened out on this schedule.
Thanks to all of you for your input!
