how long after getting blood drawn can you lift again?

I had blood drawn to get a cholesterol level, etc. test.

How long do I need to wait before I can lift heavy with my arm? I'm afraid of my vein blowing up or something. Thanks.

    Lol, it won't blow up.

I had blood drawn a few years back and did heavy curling that same evening. Everything was fine.

It's no big deal to lift after getting your blood drawn as long as they didn't 'blow' your vein as they drew it. As long as there isnt a huge bruise around the area where they drew on you, you're fine to lift as long and as hard as ya want. Veins seal up with a platelet plug within minutes unless you have some kind of coagulation disorder, so dont sweat it and DONT use it as an excuse to get lazy.

I have my blood drawn every 3 months and also on occasion when I'm in the hospital and if I wanted to I could go straight to the gym from getting my blood drawn. The only time you need to wait 24-48 hours is if your donating blood to a blood bank. If thats the case they typically draw a lot more blood and suggest not doing any activity until at least the next day. If your for some reason not sure you should lift the same day for some medical reason then ask your doctor and not on here. Also, when you get your blood drawn for a blood bank they tell you to eat right away and get plenty of fluids. So a quick snack before the gym wouldn't hurt.

If you give blood, wait 24hrs, for cholesterol you fasted, so i wouldnt work out immediatly, seeing that you havent eaten in 12 hrs. I would recommend to eat, and wait an hour, get some nutrients/energy back then your fine to work out when u want afterwards

I just worked out today after five viles of blood... Now I know why I feel super tired AND why I had a TERRIBLE workout. FML.

I just had 8 vials of blood drawn yesterday right before I worked out....however, I also ate a Clif Builder's protein bar to get some sugar into my system right before I worked out....had a very strong back/bi/core workout. I would say be hydrated and eat something after having blood drawn.

Great question. I've searched around for this 1 time after I had blood taken for some test work. I read that if you're just getting blood taken, it's ok to work out after a couple of hours but if you're getting blood drawn to wait 24 hrs or so. In my opinion though it's just going to be how YOU feel. Don't push yourself..

I had blood drawn for cholesterol and tri glycerides around 12:30 pm. I was planning on eating after then working out in an hour then I saw a note saying I shouldn't lift for 24 hours. I believe most people above that it shouldn't be a problem but just to be safe I will wait until the evening to give myself more time.
