I accidentally left eggs out overnight (still in shell), are they safe to eat?

I bought some jumbo size eggs last night, about 9:00pm. I took the rest of my groceries in, but forgot the eggs.
I just went out to my car, and saw that the eggs have been sitting in the trunk. They've been in there for about 17 hours, between 65-80 degrees.

    Are they still safe?

well when eggs are first laid they are at normal room temp, and in some countries they leave milk, eggs, etc. at normal temp.

Are you eating the eggs raw?

Nah, I'll either be hard boiling them, or scrambling them, so I think they should be ok.

I'll NOT be leaving any runny yolk, just to be safe.

    short answer: yes

I lived in a country where 80 degress was a normal day and my granddad had a poultry business. We never refridgerated the eggs. In fact, apart from the West, eggs aren't kept chilled.

Thanks, that's kind of what I figured...When they're at the farm there's gotta be a certain amount of time that they are not refrigerated.

They'll be fine. You don't actually need to refrigerate eggs anyway, unless they're the pasteurised ones. They're not refrigerated in the supermarket.

Why is it they are chilled in the West?

Is it just to help preserve them/keep them good for longer?

Or does chilling them not have any effect of the sort?

    Just wondering.

We're just used o that, I suppose. Bread and vegetables (except salad greens) don't need to be in the fridge either, but we still do it. Maybe the bread lasts longer but a lot of veggies would be fine.

see the thing with me, is that sure. it may be okay. in fact, about 2 months ago i made a thread about "should i eat chili that i made a week ago". everyone told me it was okay, and i was throwing up out of my ass all the next day. i had to put tp in the freezer just too cool my ring of fire.

for this reason, i always assume people are ****ing with you when they say **** is still good to eat...

I have no idea why people put bread in the fridge - low temperatures actually make the bread go stale faster. Yeah, it won't go mouldy as quick but it's like eating cardboard

Once you think about it, when chickens lay eggs, the eggs sit there for an unknown amount of time. Sometimes they won't have egg pickups for a day or two. The eggs would even be warm in the coop.

    The eggs should be fine.
