Yes that's common because of the differences in torque and optimal RPM ranges. Speedy owners never get the Street up to proper RPM because they're used to the liter bike topping out at 10k. The Street starts to get good at 10k.
Having said that, my Street has not sold and I'm getting tired of not riding so I may have to scrap my plans for the BMW and go get my bike back.
On top of all that, my 18 year old son came home with a Yamaha FZ-09 yesterday (not approved by me) so I feel like I'd better get some riding in with him.

Well, he's been begging me to sell him my Street Triple but I don't approve of him having a bike at the moment so I wasn't going to help him out at all... I did tell him that if he got a loan on his own I'd give it to him for $1k less than street value. He barely qualified for the new bike, used was out of the question so that wasn't an option for him. I sure hope he takes care of that FZ, it's a nice bike. I think the FZ is probably a much better commuter bike and it's got a smoothed out B mode that I think would be good for him as a new rider. That Street Triple's throttle is like a light switch, damn thing's either on or off there's a very fine line for in between.
Yeah the Triumph is for sale on consignment at the dealer, when I get it back I'll just put it up on Craigslist and Cycle Trader and sell on my own while I ride it. Weather is too nice right now, won't be long before dog days of summer hit and I'll be showing up to work with sweat stains on my shirt so I'd like to enjoy it now. If it sells that BMW is still on the hit list, makes me drool every time I look at it.
So what kind of comparisons can you make with your FZ-09 to other bikes you've ridden?
I was thinking of buying the kiddo a fender eliminator and some sliders for his, any recommendations for those and some other mods that would be nice? Best forums to point him to for various research and all that? I haven't had time to really track any of the usual stuff down for him as it was kind of a surprise for me.

Sup bras. 2005 Harley Davidson 1200C XL. The owner was an old vietnam vet. Bike was just taken out of storage over at Harley and was gone over and had the oil changed. Garage kept and very nice shape. Paid 4400 for it. Got to whip it this evening went on a solid hour ride out to st charles and back. The thing gets wobbly at 60-70 but I dont intend to go any faster so it is what it is
Now I gotta con my dad into rearranging the garage to squeeze this thing inside

On the street I've owned:
FZR600
SV650S
Honda 919
Honda Rebel 250 (lol)
BMW K1200RS
Triumph Speed Triple
Ducati 900SS
FZ-09
I also used to be the sales manager of a Ducati dealership so I've ridden almost everything in their current line up save for a Diavel and a Panigale. The FZ-09 has to be one of the EASIEST bikes to ride, at least in the 600+ CC class. It's very friendly at slow speeds, which is good for a beginner. The B mode definitely makes it a lot more tame as well. The biggest downside I find is the throttle. If you think the Street III is like a light switch...take that FZ out and put it in A mode...jesus christ. There's already companies working on a reflash to fix it since the bike is throttle by wire. I will say it got better after the motor was more broken in (around 700 miles).
The most active forum seems to be fz-09forums.com
For a fender eliminator I would go with the yoshimura. It's the cleanest looking kit that still has a plate light. I went with the Graves kit, which was well built and pretty easy to install, but has no plate light, so that added an extra work around since I don't want to be getting stopped all the time/ticketed for something stupid like that. The best Weightlifting forum on the web:

Well the FZ-09 is a goner. My boy went down this morning coming home from an overnight shift. Bike is trashed. He's got broken back in 3 places with thoracic 3 being shattered and in pieces, shoulder is broke/torn, couple misc things like broken ribs and his knee is jacked.
Yall be careful out there.

I can't wait for my 1st motorcycle dammit. I'm finding the cheapest car possible just to get driving experience. I'll be saving up and will get a ninja 250 after about 6 months.
And if I happen to find a gokart track or any race track at that, oh lawd
Wonder how he went down. Thats the risks we take, just gotta be careful. I have a bunch of motorcyclists in my family.

Really sorry, hope he gets a full recovery! Tired, night riding, all can cause issues. Bottom line, it could have been worse!
I had my first crash in 30 years of riding a few months ago, so nobody is immune. My helmet made it embarrassing without serious injury, but my Electra Glide was totaled in a 25 mph crash.
Anyways, all the best!"Where you are now is not important, what matters is where you are headed".

The moments of my life in which I've grown had to do with failures; the moments of my life when I've gotten worse, had to do with success. Success is deforming, relax, deceives, makes us worse, we fall in love too much of ourselves; failure is the opposite, it's formative, makes us strong, brings us closer to our convictions, make us consistent.

Man I'm dying to get a bike brahs. I have no driving experience and will buy the cheapest car possible. While gaining experience I'll be saving up for a cheap 250 ninja. I'm guessing $2500 will be enough for the bike and good gear? I know I'm gonna buy a helmet and jacket. Now that I think about it, if I wanna go to the track, I might as well buy pants too.
Will the buy ninja to use for school commutes and track days, if I can find a track. Theres one near me, but I'm not sure if its nice and curvy. My dream bike is looking to be the BMW S1000rr. Thats a looking ways from now, so not in a big rush.Last edited by AndYUKnowThis; 08-06-2014 at 06:19 PM.

The local dealer called to let me know they've got a 2015 S 1000 R on order now and asked if I'd like to give a deposit. I'm so on the fence because I don't NEED another bike but that is one sweet looking ride. I tried to buy one a few months ago but they stopped production on the 2014's and I couldn't find a single dealer in Texas that had one or could get one.
As for the new ride, with no driving experience I'd wait a while. The biggest problem on the road are cagers trying to kill you and you need to get used to predicting their awkward behavior and recognizing traffic patterns before you put yourself out there on a bike. When you do make the purchase I see you said helmet and gloves, but don't skimp on the gear and get a great pair of gloves and boots also. My son just went down hard, broke his back and his hands and feet took a beating among other things. He had a jacket and gloves hanging on the rack at home. Just in work pants and his legs were fine, even his knees... Good jacket with spine protection is the way to go I don't care how hot it is.
