    Shoulder problems

Well I have had a pain in my right shoulder for a few months now and it doesn't seem to be getting better. I went to the doc and he gave me a cortisone shot and some aleve and told me to take it easy but the pain is still there. I can still do pretty much all my workouts but flat bb and db bench or front delt raises. Incline I can do also flys. Anyone have any suggestions on what it might be or how to fix it? They also took an X ray and said it wasn't the rotator cuff. Its starting to piss me off.

It could be you have an AC Separation. Just look it up on google and it will give you a bunch of info. The only way that will heal is by taking time of the gym and that means lifting nothing at all with your injured arm for at least 4 weeks, depending on the type of separation. There is type 1, 2, 3 separations. These are the most common AC separations. Type 1 and 2 require time off. Sometimes they can take up to 6 weeks to fully recover. Type 3 in some cases requires surgery. The best thing to do is schedule an appointment with an orthopedist. He should be able to diagnose you and give you the proper advice. You should definitely not try to work out through it. You will only worsen your situation.

I understand it might be difficult right now not being able to work out. Just think of it this way. Would your rather miss a couple of months from the gym or live for the rest of your life with a bad shoulder cause of the damage you did trying to work through it with an injury. Whenever you heal don't go there trying to push weight at 100% of your capability. You gotta start with really light weight to strengthen your shoulder. Then work your way up.

I don't know if you have an AC separation. Whatever it is. If it's causing you pain. There is definitely something wrong. The only way to know for sure is by going to see a doctor preferably an orthopedist.

I am recovering from an AC separation type 2. I have been out from the gym for about 5 weeks and although the pain is gone. I can move my shoulder fine. It's still not 100%. I am planning to start next week with some really light weight. Then work my way up slowly.

I had a similar problem to what you guys are talking about, although I never got it diagnosed by a physician. I took a few months off to let it heal and its never bothered me since.
