is about 1 cup of chicken (if portioned in a tupperware container) equal to about 4-5 oz? just curious because i eat ont he run alot as i work a lot of jobs and a lot of hours and my meals are all packaged in tupperware containers..

Closer to five ounces.

I should remind people that these "rules of thumb" are just that - rules of thumb. The odds are NOT in your favor when it comes to guessing correctly about the weight and nutritional content of food - even more so when it has been prepared and mixed in with other ingredients. The size and shape of the container can fool you into thinking you have less when there is in fact more - or much more (example: bowl vs. plate). A "deck of cards," for instance, is one size in your head, but when you go to measure the chicken breast against an actual deck of cards you may and will find a considerable discrepancy. This doesn't take into account that chicken breasts are uneven in thickness, resembling a oddly-angled right triangle more than a square. Your palm is slightly bigger or smaller than someone else's palm, your fingers slightly more slender or fatter. And bam, you're off by an half-ounce. Six meals a day, that's roughly three ounces. Blah blah blah.

The moral of the story is: BUY A SCALE...and be fooled no more.

How big are they?

2 oz is small.
5 oz is medium.
6 oz is medium-to-large.

Don't stress over it.
