Working out with a Pilonidal Cyst. Need advise

Long story short. I started Biking 10-15 miles 5 times a week in June 2016 and started lifting seriously (Bench, dead lift, squats etc) in Jan 2017 and developed my pilonidal cyst in June 2017. Since then i have completely stopped biking but kept up lifting 5 times a week. Initially i thought i tweaked my tailbone from improper form while squatting (new to lifting) Over the year and half i have started to love lifting but for the past month my cyst is flaring up every time i bench press (incline, flat and decline) and i am looking for some advise from fellow lifters who workaround this issue

    1) I dont want to get surgery as there is a long road to recovery and a high probability of the cyst coming back
    2) how do you workaround while lifting? any best practices you follow to not anger the cyst from flaring up?

    Any help is appreciated. thanks!

Get a surgery. It takes 15 minutes. Recovery is not THAT long. You wouldn't risk it coming back, you'd rather have it on your arse, waiting till all hell breaks loose?!? Sometimes it wreaks havoc. Abscess left untreated is not very smart.

Myself, no. But I see them treated or operated at least 10 times a week. If I had to make a choice as a bodybuilder, I would definitely get it done. I wouldn't even call it biting a bullet, if you are afraid of surgery. It is seriously not a big deal to get it done.

I had this surgery twice about 16 years ago. First time they sewed me back together, without realizing that they didnt remove it all. After 3 weeks it came back again. This time it was bigger and they could not sew the wound again. So i ended up having to let the wound heal by itself. That took 3 months.

That being said. Its a VERY fast operation (15-20 min) and i never had ANY pain following the surgery. And if they move it all the first time, and sew your wound, you will be 100% after just 2 weeks.

EDIT: i cant believe you are just walking around with it though. For me i could not sit properly or anything, and could not wait to get it removed. Dont worry...really...the surgery is NOTHING and you can go home the same day
The whole world's hip and thats not cool.
