Optimum BCAA 5000 Powder, my first BCAA supplement. I plan on taking one serving pre and one serving post workout. Not any on off days. Does it have a taste? Can it be mixed with milk?

If you are new to supplementing with additional BCAA's I would highly recommend, Scivation Xtend: it provides ample amounts of BCAA's per serving, mixes really well, and also, it is easy to consume (taste-wise). The reason why I liked it so much, was because it was a simple addition to my simple/minimal supplementation needs. If however, you do not require BCAA's during workout, then buying bulk BCAA powder is cheaper. But as i said, to use during your workout's you will not find a better product. The only alternative here would be consuming a small amount of whey isolate.

Yes, Xtend is expensive, however, unless you purchase BCAA's in bulk, you are unlikely to find an alternative product yeilding a similar amout of BCAA's at a cheaper price. I would suggest then, purchasing an alternative BCAA supplement, such as that provided by Optimum or Prolab, and use it prior to and post workout. During your workout, if you wish, you can always use a watered-down whey supplement.

I would also recommend Xtend! Yes it is abit more expensive then unflavoured Bcaa's, but the time to spend and money you will spend doing trial and error to improve the taste of the unflavoured BCAA's you will regret buying them. Xtend is a great supplement and as you will read, many people use it and receive great results, the first noticable effect will be increased endurance thorought your workouts, which is contributed from by the added Citrullin Malate.
For more info do a search and you will see that this question would of more than likely been covered many times before and will aid in helping you decide.
cheers

BCAA's are a very interesting subject to me. I have long used every new product that does this or that better than the last. No product, not N.O., hyperplaisia super juice or any supposedly "anabolic" substance has had solid, real measurable gains as steady and timed BCCA supplementation. The powder you speak of is great, several different encapsullated brands work as well, but in my experience compressed tablet forms seem to work better. Do not mix with milk, they work best on an empty stomach with plenty of water. Yeah before and after workouts is your window, but also try an additional serving right before bed.
