And if for some reason you can't play football just wear a helmet for the duration of an actual football game or practice.

I think if you hang yourself, you will get an awesome neck. Joking, Work on shoulders doing upright rows with your shoulders cramped. Work on traps, they make yoru dmastoid muscles bigger.

dont do upright rows, you can injure your rc.
work with heavy dead lifts, shrugs, and do some back bridges

If you want to hit the neck directly do these, and be careful, its good to have someone around when you do these. I do these alone bu I am pretty careful. http://www.exrx.net/Lists/ExList/NeckWt.html

Can you guide me to an alternative to the Upright Rows, I should probably stop doing them now, if they are that hazardous, I have yet to have any issues with them so far.

Upright rows used to give me trouble on the rotator cuff front... Today I did them as my final exercise and I got absolutely no complaints, as my shoulders were warmed up.

If upright rows are performed incorrectly, of course they will do damage to yoru rotatorcuff. If performed correctly they won't.

Isometrics are sposed to be good for building the neck.

Like, put your hands on your forehead for resistance and push your head forward with your neck.
Same can be done for the back and sides of your head.
