300 meter sprint?

I have to do a 300 meter sprint in 3 weeks in 70 seconds. I can sprint about half of that in about 35 seconds. If any of you know me from past posts, I've come a long way. My question is, What's the best way to train now, like everyday do the 150 and try to increase, or just do pole sprints. Any advice would be good. Also, I hear from everyone that my beathing isn't right, I can't breath in through my nose, out through my mouth it's to hard for me to do. Any tips would be great.

What other running training are you doing?
If you are getting out and running every other day for about 3 miles, this 300m in 70s will be a breeze... and at your age you should be able to build up to that quite quickly....
If you are already running 3 miles comfortably in less than 30mins... then try bringing in some short (30 sec) sprints every 2-3 mins.... this will in the longer term get your 3 mile time down and help you with this 300m test.
The day before the test, do some gentle CV bike or short run, but don't try anything maximally... I have always found that if I have a complete rest day before something like this that I perform less well....
Hope this helps....

PS.... I never used the correct breathing.... and still managed to do the 10k (6.1 miles) in 42mins... but is did find that counting my in and out breaths with steps helped me get my mind off my heavy breathing... I huff and puff like and old one.... But I used count: in, 2, 3, 4, out, 2, 3, 4..... with fotosteps marking the pace... helped me....

I'm not an expert but my sons run track. They run the 100 and 200. They actually do 300's to train for their 200's and 150's to train for their 100's. Its worked well for them but they are 7 and 9. :-) When they run a lot of 300's the 200 becomes easy to them. Perhaps you should try running some 400's. Then when you get use to that a 300 shouldn't be too bad. My sons run a 300 in 48 - 50 seconds.

running a 300 in 70s should be no big deal. i'm not a track star at all and can do that. i agree with the previous poster...you need to be running farther than 300m to train for a timed 300m run. running 400s and 800s at a quick pace (level 7-8 outta 10) will be very beneficial to you. to give you an idea i'm about an 8min miler for 5K runs...if i'm running 1 mile all out i can do it in about 7:10. i think that's good but it's not great. i think you can do what your aiming for with little training.

Question Half Way!

Well I'm at the point where I can do about half or a little more of the sprint. I think the only thing that's going to really help at this point is to just push myself. I have less then 2 weeks! One thing that I noticed is when I finish and am all out of breath I'm soooo Dizzy. Is this a normal thing?

oh oh...right up my alley!!! Timed runs are fun.

I would suggest doing mult 200m timed. Say...2x 200m at about 50sec (does that sound doable) rest fully between set (at least 3 mins or until your hr gets almost to resting) and repeat 1 more.

If you can do faster than 50 sec EACH time than do it.

I would do this 2-3 times a week and 1 a week.

1x a week I would 2 x 300 as fast as you can but make sure you rest completely. OR 1x300 and 4x40m sprints

The important thing is to rest between sets since you are working on speed endurance.

Oh and the dizzy thing is from not having enough oxygen so make sure you dont bend over after you finish running and make sure you are standing up tall to get enought O2 .

Hope this helps
