    How to get rid of intrusive thoughts?! (serious) (OCD)

    Ok this is probably not the most appropriate place to stick this but I need somewhere to turn to right now and I am desperate for some help and advice.

    We all get intrusive thoughts but as an OCD sufferer, I get this overwhelming non-stop barrage of intrusion that I just can't shake -- I try to occupy my mind with other things but it doesn't get rid of the thought -- I am just working around them basically.

    Any advice, please.

    Seriously, it sounds like you have ADD... talk to a doctor about it, they can prescribe meds... most likely Adderol... or, start researching ways to naturally help your condition if you don't want to be on Adderol.

    i had OCD as a child, it sucks (inappropriate thoughts, needing to do unnecessary things) . I think its caused by different kinds of physical/mental stress. Mind eventually faded away, if yours is this serious, then you need to speak to a doctor

    I am already diagnosed with OCD

    I was diagnosed with OCD. I am getting therapy and taking meds right now for this -- the compulsions are not nearly as bad as they were but the obsessions are still horrible.

    I used to wash my hands for, sometimes, 10 minutes each time.

    Anyways, the intrusive thoughts can be anything -- whatever my brain latches on to.

    I never knew there was a word for this... I've had this bad for a few years and I just thought it was "normal". I would rather deal with this myself - settle it at the root - then take prescriptions and only block it out.

    Advice would rock.

    Well, there is a form of OCD that purely mental (ie. with mental rituals that aren't apparent to others).
