    Beano

Has anyone ever tried it? I'm finding some serious bloat and discomfort lately when i eat broccoli, cauliflower and spinach. Has anyone given it a shot?

Get some NOW Superenzymes from the bb.com store. They are much cheaper, and offer more enzymes per pill. Those help.

i dont think beano will help... broccoli and cauliflower cause flatulence because they are high-fiber and therefore flatugenic... and beano will not help you digest fiber.

It's funny that you bring this up. In my biology class we just did an experiment on how beano effects different vegetables and beans.
First off beano works (supposidly) by breaking down the offending veggie/bean into glucose so when it reaches your intestinal track the bacteria won't create so much gas from digesting it. Sadly we found over mulitple experiments beano does not work. It failed to do what it claimed to do.
Of course there is always an amount of error in experiments, but this is what our general consenus was.

The bloating is significant and really hurts. I tried the super enzymes tonight with no luck. Cucumbers and tomatoes only for me

Is this your first time really eating alot of fiber (like did yo used to eat at least some fruits and veggies in the past/all your life before this?) You could just have to get used to it. I've always eaten fruits in the past, but not really that much veggies. At first it was hard to eat a lot of them without getting significant pain but I think as you up your fiber, your body gets used to it. I can now down a couple of cups of broccoli and cauliflower and not get any pain (but still some bloating..I knwo it sucks lol) But maybe eat smaller amounts of it for now and then slowly add more as time goes on?

Ive always eaten mainly fruits and veggies, but like you, way more fruit (I love). I'm noticing even the spinach (raw) that I have with my tuna is giving me the pain too. I cant deal with the bloat, makes me feel awful

I seem to get less gassy if I have beano with my first bite of raw veggies (bell peppers are bad). Really chewing them helps too - I have a bad habit of not chewing my food properly and that causes pain sometimes.

    Brooke,

You have to give your body time to adjust its enzyme production to keep up with the demand of new foods and quanity. When your body is not use to have to breaking down these foods to distribute them, it backs up. In short allow your body to retrain retired and laid off workers.

IF you are going to use an enzyme product I recommend Udo's Enyzme Blend. That being said you should do what you can to allow your body to catch up and produce it on its own.

Make sure to really chew your food as well. It may seem simple but is surprisingly overlooked and fixes a lot of problems there within its self.
