karate - 2 years, kung fu - 3 years, bit of boxing and judo
The only beneficial thing is the sparring (but I enjoyed the forms in kung fu)

anyone can beat anyone, when it comes to the fight you dont really incoroprate the 'style' but what you have learned (for example, reaction times, punching properly etc etc) helps you out. Also depends how much work you put into your training, are you sparring enough etc

I'm thinking of taking up a martial art or boxing, I think if I do it'll probably be boxing, seems more suited for someone trying to get big.

Boxing burns more calories than nearly every other martial art. I would guess only Muay Thai and BJJ come close to the amount of calories burnt as boxing does. Anyway, that really does hinder any muscle gains. I have done it for quite a few years and it's only recently since I have stopped going that i have packed on any serious amount of muscle gains.
EDIT: I'm not saying you won't gain, but that it does slow your gains down and you have to eat even more than you normally would on a bulk to carry on such gains. Good luck.

i know that im not stupid! but if i was to sparr a ninja in a boxing ring most likely i would kill him! a lot of martial arts focus on technique and tricks etc. when most of the time its just the basics that work the best!
do u get wat i mean?
