    weighted pull/chin-ups and dips

Hi. Well let me give my shpeal(sp?). During the school year, i was constantly doing weighted pull-ups and dips, but now that school is out i dont have access to the gym there. Now, i'm going to a local gym, but it doesn't have a machine where you can attach weight when doing pull-ups.

I love doing weighted pull-ups and i dont think theres anything else like it, nor could i go 3 months without them.

Any ideas on how i can compensate for this debacle of mine?

You don't need a machine, all you need is a pull-up bar and a "dip belt". You put the weights on the belt, not on any machine...

hmm well at school there was this thing you wrap around your waist which is connected to a weight stack and you set how much weight you want.

dont think i've ever heard of what you're talking about...

Ok, I see what you mean by using a machine. A dip belt is a lifting belt with a chain attached to one end. You thread a plate through the chain, and attach the free end of the chain to the other end of the belt and let the weight hang down in front of your legs, while the belt is around your waist. It's actually pretty comfortable, feels better than it looks.

it wasn't a machine per-say...it's just the weight stack was attached to a machine, i was still doing pull-ups on my free-will. It's not like it was one of those guided pull-up machines.

Anyway, do gyms carry these dip belts or would i ahve to go buy one...also how much do they cost.

My gym has one, so I use theirs. You can buy one at the bb.com cyberstore for like $25 or so.
