    how many hours do you spend at the gym?

    i was just wondering what time i should spend at the gym. i currently spend 1 hour each day of my five day split.
    When i step onto the field, i dont want to be respected, i want to be feared

    1 hour, any longer and I feel sluggish and unmotivated to lift

    and you should only lift for an hour anyway due to the increased cortisone levels (catabolic hormone) which are produced after a long session of strenuous exercise

    I probably lift for 1 hr to 1.5hrs. I no anything over an hour is bad but some days it just takes longer to get through. Then do aobut 30 mins cardio, so id say on average about 2 hours by the time i shower, there is a kick ass climbing wall in my gym so sometimes i have a go on that after

    Its cortisol, not cortisone; cortisone is something else completely, and the studies were in endurance athletes who were under constant stress. The studies do NOT apply to bodybuilding unless you are circuit training

    and either 15 minutes of cardio, or 15 minutes of abs!!

    alright thanks guys. i used to spend 10 hours a week when i had a 2 day split, 2 days on, 1 day off. so i think my split now is way better.

    remember I am doing many diffrent excersies that work the same muscles. (RDLs, clean and jerks, snatches, power versions etc etc) Also remember I work in a lot of sets with strengh training rests in between.

    ahh yeah i misspelled it because this dictionary only recognizes cortisone

    for me personally, I just wanna sleep after an hour of lifting, so if i go any longer I need a sugar hit to keep me going.

    i lift for 1.5 hrs- 2 hours ...i honestly believe that the majority of ppl actually do not workout long enough and hard enough........they say **** like my hormones are going catabolic after 45min, while i do believe you need rest and being in the gym all day is not a positive thing, i think ppl are always looking for the easy way out....look at the greatest athletes and bb's of all time even b4 they had steroids and they would work out for several hours, even bb.com's very own layne norton trains for longer bouts, the man was training his legs 3 days a week at 1 point for 1.5+ hours, and i think the results speak for themsleves.

    right now i lift for 45 minutes and do like 30-40 minutes cardio (not including the 10 minutes that it takes me to walk to the gym, and another 10 to get back to my house)

    about four to eight hours a day, depending if I'm working or not. A non working day would be three to four hours, since I work out for two hours, and then eat....shower...relax.

    If i work....I sometimes have to wait cuz of primetime hours ....so work for four hours, wait two...work out two hours.... word..its like my frickin home.

    Any longer and you aren't working hard enough. If you're hitting the weights hard enough, lifting heavy weights, you shouldn't be able to last 2 hours in the gym.

    That's not true. If you hit chest extensively..... it should take you an hour and a half..... Imagine if you have back on the same day...that's another hour and a half... Some people do it together.... some people split it during the day.

    But the more then 45 minutes, you aint working hard....is bollocks. Yes ...you could get it done in that time....but if you have the energy to **** it up even more....take that chance and work twice as hard.

    I usually spend a hour to a hour 15 on weights then i do leg raises and crunches for around 15 mintues.
