Help! Puzzling soreness that won't go away

About a month ago, after a chest/tri workout, I felt a ton of soreness in my right tricep. A few days after I thought this was the regular soreness that you feel the day after you workout the muscle. Nothing new, same as all the years I have been training. However, this soreness never went away! Now, being a stubborn fool, I did not stop training. My thought process was that it's soreness, not pain, so it can't kill me. I worked through it, waiting for it to go away. Eventually I took out the few tri isolation exercises I had, but it still wouldn't go away.

Now, maybe more than a month later, I have taken a week off and the soreness has decreased, but it's still there. I don't know what to do, and continuing to stay out of the gym is killing me! How do I get this soreness to go away? It is not pain, so I don't know if it can be linked to inflammation and don't know if I should take anyoral anti-inflammatory drug. Have tried bengay, tiger balm, icy hot, etc. to no avail.

The only thing I did different in that work out was switch my skull crushers from flat bench to decline, just to change it up. Pure speculation, but that could be the cause.

Anyone with any idea on what I can do???? Thanks in advance.

sounds like you may've severely pulled/strained your tri. i actually had the same problem about 2 weeks ago with my biceps. it was so sore i could hardly move it for about 2 1/2 weeks. it should eventually go away but making a visit to the dr. couldn't hurt anything, but sounds like a strain. i would recommend stayin off the iron at least until you get it checked out. best of luck to ya.
