Question Starchy carbs/water retention

I've noticed that some starchy carbs like sweetpotatos make me bloated looking like Im holding a lot of water. Does anyone else have this problem? From my bellybutton all the way up looks puffy. On days that I just stick to veggies, my abs look great. I drink plenty of water so I know it isnt that. A girl at the gym said she had the same problem, so all she eats is fibrous carbs, plenty of good fats and proteins. Any suggestions or info would be helpful.

hmmm..I eat a lot of sweet potatoes and I do have a bloating problem from time to time. I'm going to switch to brown rice for a week and see what happens. Glad you brought this subject up!

My personal experience...

My abs look their best when all I eat are fiberous carbs. Overall they just look harder, more flat, and leaner than when I eat starchy carbs (or junk, heh).

Starchy carbs (and junk) make my abs look smoother and they are not as flat, due to holding water.

Pretty much my whole physique responds this way. When I avoid starchy carbs and dairy, my whole physique looks leaner and harder. And this is precisely why most female BBr's drop starchy carbs and dairy as they get closer to their comps.
