    Thicker Wrists?

I was wondering if there were any particular exercises to do to make your wrists thicker?

from what I have read, thats pretty much genetically determined by bone structure. You can make that joint stronger but not thicker. . . .which sucks for me because I have the wrists of a girl.

Genetically? I dont believe it at all, because if you look at some boxers, before they became heavyweight, their wrists arent as thick as they are now. I think it might have something to do with gripping heavy loads, but not quite sure.

i used to do curls with a straight bar and it definitly made my wrists a little thicker.

Also there is an exercise where you sit on a bench and curl a broom stick handle with both arms about 3 sets of 100 or til failure.

A really good one a friend showed me is get an attachable dumbell bar, tie a string around it and a weight to the other end and roll it up 3 times (while standing on a bench)and your wrists will be dead.

Hope I could be some help, these exercises are hard to explain.

hyper, I know I wasnt going to be able widen my bones. But I have to totally disagree when you say "You cant grow bone" because yes you can grow bone. Evolution, thanks for the exercises I will give them a try. Its finding a way to work those mucles on your wrist.........ive been experimenting but nothing too great yet. Though doing reverse grip(palms down) cable curls seemed to shock the hell out of my forearms and some parts of the wrist. Give that a whirl. Key: keeps wrists straight, DO NOT BEND.

was just saying that don't be surpised if, in 2years, your wrists are exactly the same size they are now (unless you're going through puberty)

Take a look at an anatomy text. There's isn't much in the way of muscle in your wrists. It's mostly tendons and ligaments.

Im not calling anyone a liar, but I still believe there is a way to thicken the wrist area. I've seen guys with wrists that look amazing solid, Bill Kazmier for example. I know that the wrist is mainly ligaments and bones. Im not looking for a phenominal growth in the wrists, let say add 1/8" in girth or so. But if I cant like ya say, oh well. thanks for all the feedback.

when exposed to stress and pressure, bone absorbs more calcium. hence, weight training can ass to bone mass and why boxers can develop larger wrists. but the change will not be significant. you are limited by your frame size

i believe you are referring to the increase in bone density, not the actual size of the bone.
