Just been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
I've just been diagnosed as having bipolar disorder.
This is one hell of a shock and is something I'm really finding hard to deal with. Is there anyone out there that suffers the same or has any experience of bipolar disorder. Would really like to chat with someone about it and how it can affect my training, especially as I've just started to get results from chaning my supps.

Yea I supposedly was 'diagnosed' with Bipolar I. It's crap. Mental illness is in your head unless you are literally mentally retarded. Yea sometimes I flip out, and sometimes I'm really happy, just like everyone else. Work out, put it in the back of your mind. Don't take any medication, you'll feel like crap.

The diagnosis came after I sat down Friday afternoon with an electrical cable wrapped around my neck, I was prepared to take my own life... I had just trained like an absolute beast yet felt so utterly depressed, that I couldn't carry on. A few weeks ago I had a similar incident.

Anyways good-luck with it.

Yeah a nice pretty one tied to the window ... WTF is that kind of a question. I'm trying to get some serious advice here. I don't want to go down the meds route especially if it means that I'm going to have to ditch the majority of my supps.

That ain't a "mental illness" exactly. It has physiological impact on the brain.

my auntie is bi polar. she used to flip out and say she was someone else (eg. virgin mary) and generally just make up random stories. she's on medication and has been fine for a few years now.
It's a shame though the meds change you, she used to have such a bubbly personality but now she seems so distant when you talk to her, like she's in another place and not thinking.
I'd try counselling or something and save medication as your last resort (serious), you just won't be the same.
her problem is she has no hobbies or interests to occupy herself with so she's just alone with her thoughts all day, you fortunately, have found bodybuilding, stick to it and stay positive man

I have no idea but what I've read
Quote:

Wikipedia - As well as being linked to disability, studies have suggested a correlation between creativity and bipolar disorder, although the relationship between the two is unclear. Studies have also indicated increased striving for, and sometimes obtaining, goals and achievements more generally; in other words, many with bipolar disorder tend to be more driven, extremely goal oriented, and hard working.

I currently run 2 businesses and am working on putting together another 2. I've always been more driven to achieving financial stability than anything else in my life and more importantly being able to call myself a millionaire, so much so that I've not allowed myself to have a relationship or ever deviate from my set goals/guidelines, this has been going on since I was 14.
I've read the rest of the Wikipedia page and its a strong possibility, the severe swings of depression seem to indicate it. I trust the judgement of the hospital.

dont go for the drugs
what you probably need is real high doses of specific vitamins and minerals because thats what usually causes that stuff is a deficiency in the absorption of them

There's more to life than money man. Life's for living, ya gotta do what ya love. You don't need to be hearing this from a 19 year old kid either, I'm sure plenty of people will tell you the same.

It was as I thought it was just me being completely depressed and I thought that I'd be able to get over it. Especially after the first incident but the 2nd happening only a few days ago and being so close to the other. This si the first time in my life I've ever felt this way, always been able to put things to the back of my mind.

One thing I have read is that it is a defective release of Seratonine in the brain so I am reseraching herbal/chinese medicine alternatives. I'm one for alternative therapies first. If anyone knows of or hears of anything that might help please let me know.

ok, I just never actually met a person who loved making money just cus. Of course you can always get stuff but I guess I never really thought about it cus there's not a whole lot of stuff I'd even want. I don't have aspirations of being filthy rich or whatever. I just wanna be able to live and afford housing.

lol, nice. I'd never take a psychology class either. Seems like a lot of BS, at least for some people. Also, I didn't take it in high school (concurrent enrollment course with the community college or whatever) cus most of the kids taking it were stuck up douchebags that believed they were better than other people cus they were taking a college course, lol.
alright folks I'm off to bed. I'm sleepy.

not "just cus"
if you are complacent its hard to explain
money doesnt buy happiness but you will sure be glad when you have more of it
friends wfe/daughter/parent needs a 200k operation they cant afford and you can pay for it - thats real cool
driving a car that costs more than most peoples houses - feels great
as opposed to worrying about taking a sick day cause you are late on bills and driving some "economic" car just because you cant afford better
