I've read that mixing whey w/ water is best post-workout b/c it expedites absorption. I've also read on the forums that mixing whey w/ milk slows absorption and shouldn't be done post workout.
It's generally assumed that the fats in milk are what slow absorption and negate the quick absorption qualities assosciated w/ quality whey protein drinks. So my question, why would mixing your protein w/ skim milk slow absorption since it has no fat in it?
I'm not a chemist, but i would figure drinking 50 grams of whey protein mixed w/ some skim milk (which would have an additional 16 grams in two cups) would do little to significantly slow down absorption post workout.
What do you guys think....Would mixing w/ skim milk slow down absorption?

I prefer water so I can make sure I know exactly what I am taking in. Milk makes it taste better though... Anyways, my stomach feels sick if I sip on a milk concoction before, while, and after I work out

No way i would mix whey with milk pwo......best benifit to mix whey with water pwo. Sure it may not taste as good, but it's better.
I actually found a brand of protien that taste good mixed with water. Aussie bodies perfect protein choc actually tastes good with water. Keep itn mind this contains 97 % of whey protein concentrate, not the full 100 %

Every shake I take, whether it is PWO or not, is taken with milk.
Yes, it may slow the absorbtion of whey slightly (not that any mere mortals would notice a difference), but the benfits of the casein far outweigh the cons IMO.You gotta love how sports will f*ck with ya, make you believe you can come back from an insurmountable deficit and then get kicked right in the nuts when you're almost there - Bluntdogg
