Getting Sponsorships
Ok. So I have all the contest prep thing going. Everything's going well, etc etc. However, having actually started paying for all this stuff, things are starting to add up quickly! As a single mom, I will not have the funds to compete in all the shows I'd like. I have sent sponsorship letters to various companies, but I don't think I'm doing what's optimal.
How does one promote theirself to receive a sponsorship? I would really just like to be compensated for some of the spending required to compete. In return, I've offered to where/use any gear I'm given as the gym/comp/etc. I've offered to make my short intro announcement an ad for companies. I don't know what else to do???
Ideas? Has anyone else been successful with this, as an amateur?

not to be too bland with this statement but the only real way to promote yourself for sponsorship in this sport is to get it done on stage... plain and simple. Sponsors are out there at these shows (both local and nation level), and if they like what they see they will come to you.
As the bodybuilding scene gets larger, the competition get tougher. By competition i mean both on stage and in the money part of the sport.

well besides that, I dont see what more you really could do besides what you already have been in sending letters to these companies. Also certainly helps to know people =). Sometimes thats all you need.

yep. ive added pics of myself too. well, kind of a small collage of pics. i'll have to make an updates one and send it out!
thanks.
oh yea, kick ass....dont worry. im planning on it!
and, does anyone know. are there sponsors that might prefer a natural look as opposed to...not so natural? I am natural but will be competing in both natural and regular shows. i may not win the reg shows due to not having a "leg up" but i still think i can do well. esp in my weight class.
