asswipe in the gym told me its dangerous to lift heavy weight
Thought I'd come vent my frustration.
I was just at my local gym, chest day today and was getting ready for benchpress, I stacked up my PB, lock n load i was ready to go and was about to rip into it when this prick with a gimpy leg approached me and stopped me.
"you shouldn't lift that much weight...its dangerous, i read in mens health you can cause severe injuries to yourself doing such heavy weight"
seriously, what an idiot, put me off for the rest of my session
what would you guys have done to this loser?

In your case I would have told him that I could lift any weight because I troll bb.com. And then would have proceeded to squat 5000 lbs in front of him.

I might have explained to him that what's heavy is relative to the person doing the lifting, and then I would've gotten under the bar and proceeded to bench the weight.

i'd say he's right. but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. you should always be really careful with your lifts. if you have accumulated fatigue, it's possible you could even fail on a certain weight that you had no problem with in the past.
dangerous? yeah, it definitely is. but there're risks in everything, including sitting in a chair reading a book to driving a car.

It's amazing that at 217 lbs with a 400 lb bench press, you look like you weigh 135 and bench 95. You are an anomaly!

A lot of pros avoid locking out on heavy weights to protect their joints.

honestly, why is some old piece of **** who reads mens health magazine annoying you? mens health is definetly NOT a reputable source of training advice, and most of the guys that write the articles dont even have muscular physiques, just like most personal trainers you see in gyms. it's a known fact that big weights = big muscles, so go to the gym and keep lifting heavyer. if some old guy said to you dont drink too much because its bad for you, would you get all frustrated then come on the Misc. Section on bb.com and winge about it?

Are you aware it's dangerous to lift heavy ass weights? You shouldn't be bench pressing more than half your own body weight unless you're geed up for it.

You would still be much bigger than your bodyspace pictures if you were benching over 400.

Yeah, and powerlifers aint exactly thin . . . especially at your supposed weight - you should still be thick!

just bearing a weight of 400 pounds on your frail frame would snap your arms off resulting in the bar falling on your chest and breaking you in half. kbye.
