Day 1 Chest/Shoulders/Tri + Taste review
Day 1: Chest/Shoulder/Tri
Taste Reviews
Animal Pump: The pills were easy to swallow. No complaints there.
Torrent: The flavor was pretty sweet, a bit too much for my preference. I used the called for 3 scoops and 20 oz of cold water. I think I may dilute it a bit more with ~10 oz more cold water. It mixed up great and the flavor reminded me of cherry flavored Airheads...

Thoughts and Comments:
I wasn't able to take the AP on an empty stomach today as I got back from Mother's Day dinner (PF Chang's) around 6 pm and the gym closed at 8 pm. I had one PR which felt good. However, my endurance was trash today and my shoulder press was pathetic. I attribute this to the previous weekend's poor eating/sleeping/drinking habits (college graduation, family in town, celebrating...). I'm looking forward to redeeming myself tomorrow.

* I went light with the deadlifts since I felt a little strain in my lower back after squats. Also, this is my first week doing them (in a long time) as the gym I was going to previously (Planet Gayness) didn't have BBs so I couldn't do them. Now that I'm lifting at the SRC again, I'm looking forward to being able to do squats and deads...
Comments:
Overall it was a pretty good workout. I had one PR, which is always a good thing (even though it was on a machine). As mentioned previously, I had a little "strain" in my lower back which kept my deadlifts light. I'll keep them light for the next week or two to build up strength in my lower back before loading up too much weight. I was able to take the AP on an empty stomach and I definitely felt it much more today. My endurance was back and I felt strong through most of the lifts. I also had a decent pump going after a few sets.
Evalutation:
Strength: 8.5/10
Endurance: 8/10
Pump: 8.5/10
Overall: 8.5/10

Day 4: Chest/Shoulders/Triceps/Abs
Day 4: Chest/Shoulders/Triceps/Abs
Today's workout got all fukced up.
It started off incredible. I busted out 2 PRs on db bench press but afterwards, on my first set of db incline, I had a serious discomfort in my left shoulder. At this point I as irate. I was pumped with my PRs and looking forward to setting a couple more for the day. But, my shoulder hurt significantly so I couldn't proceed as expected. I wanted to hurl a 45 at the mirrors.
FUKC!!!
So after I quit crying I decided to man up and work lower weights for higher reps. My left shoulder wasn't having inclines so I tried crossovers. That went well for 2 sets but it began to hurt again so I moved on...
It should also be noted that I went to Planet Fitness today, and not the SRC so the machine weights are different.
Anyway, here is the workout:
Chest/Shoulders/Triceps/Abs
Db bench press
55x12 (warm up)
75x11 PR
80x6 PR
80x6

Comments:
Besides the pain in my left shoulder, the workout ended up pretty well. I got an INSANE pump in my triceps after the high rep rope pulldowns (hence doing them twice). I tried to work around the pain and it ended up pretty well. I've been feeling strong lately, probably as a result of my new split, improved diet of late, and the addition of this new stack (although the latter is probably mostly mental as I just started it). Either way, I'm feeling good.
Evaluation:
Strength: 8.5/10

Pump: 9.5/10

I added new progress pics on my bspace. You can check those out here:

*I'm planning on going light/high rep on the next two chest/tri/shoulder days in order to let my rotator cuff (which I believe is the problem) heal up before I do any long term damage to it. I've looking into things I can do to speed recovery and prevent injury but I'd appreciate any suggestions that you may have.Mod @ www.all the misc.com

I plan on updating daily, so stay tuned.
I've heard nothing but good things about this stack so far, so I'm looking forward to the gains in a couple weeks...
Yeah, using ~30 oz works well. The 20 oz mixture was too sweet for me. The 30 oz is pretty tasty though.Mod @ www.all the misc.com

As far as your shoulder (rotator cuff), I would avoid decline like the plague... even flat bench should be minimized... Stick to incline... I had to take 2 months off decline and flat bench and do exclusively incline to get my shoulder better after going heavy one day on flat and decline... Almost the exact same situation as you ran into
Anyway, the good news is that doing tons of incline did wonders for my chest, and now it's my primary chest routine, with a little bit of flat bench and I rarely do decline anymore because I don't want to risk hurting my shoulder again...

Hits each bodypart twice a week... That's not bad! I might take this kind of split into consideration... though it seems like it would take about 2 hours to do if I do a complete workout for each body part... Plus other complication such as soreness and etc might come into play. I'll have to think about this for myself though.

I think you're onto something...
I still have mixed feelings on this split. Chest/etc day is fine but having legs and back together is kicking my ass! Also with doing legs 2x a week, I haven't been able to do much cardio since my legs are always "tender". I'm going to switch to one light day and one heavy day which should remedy that (that was the initial plan anyway). I'm used to doing a 5 day split so it's tough to limit the # of sets for each group...
That being said, I've had some great strength gains even in the first 2 weeks on this split so I really can't complain. I guess I'll see how it goes.
Oh, and I'll be following you log.
That's strange because my shoulder usually bothers me on incline rather than on flat bench. I'm going light/high rep for the next 2-3 workouts which will hopefully give it some time to heal/strengthen (yes optimistic).
You should like the Torrent, most people do. It was a bit too sweet for me initially with 20 oz so I diluted it with an additional 10 oz.
Well the idea (for me anyway) is to do about 1/2-3/4 of the regular sets that you'd do for each group, twice a week. That allows me to go heavier/harder on each group and to do more sets total for most groups. By doing less sets per workout, my body can recover quicker and is ready for the next day. Also, you should think about utilizing a heavy/light split as well which allows your muscles ~3 days off after heavy days.
Ex:
Day 1: A Light
Day 2: B Light
Day 3: OFF
Day 4: A Heavy
Day 5: B Heavy
Day 6: OFF
Day 7: OFFLast edited by SFriday425; 05-17-2007 at 02:51 PM.

Haha, I'm sure you'll find one that tastes good.
Thanks for stopping by. I've been checking out your log on the forvm, looks good.
Yeah, I guess I need to man up!
I obviously didn't mean that the quality/effectiveness would be "diluted", just that the overwhelming (for me) sweet flavor was diluted to a concentration that I enjoyed with the addition of ~10 more oz of water.Mod @ www.all the misc.com

OK... Just did my first torrent after a huge back and bi workout... (Sorry to hiijack your thread) Anyway, I agree that this stuff is too sweet... I did 1/2 the shake with the recommended 20oz of water, then decided to add another 10 oz of water... Then added another 10 oz of water... So a total of 40oz of water... I like the taste though... Just never had a sweet cherry shake like this... I mean, I can drink NO Shotgun like it's nothing, so that says a lot about my taste buds
Universal Rep: Why did you guys make this product so sweet? I assume you use test groups to determine the best flavor, but this seems so sweet compared to other products... Just curious...Current goal: 100lb Weighted Chin (@ 90lb now) & 150lb Weighted Dips (@ 105lb now)

Three things:
1. Don't worry about the hijack, always happy to help.
2. You're going to want to drink a full serving (3 scoops) post workout.
3. It's sweet because there are ~26 g of dextrose and also some maltodextrin in it (I deduced from reading the label). Those two compounds are great for you PWO but are obviously sweet as hell.Last edited by SFriday425; 05-17-2007 at 05:29 PM.

I had a pretty solid workout today. I concentrated on perfect form on squats and DLs so although the weight didn't increase much, I worked the wheels harder on those two exercises compared to last week. I felt strong and had decent endurance. I was really feeling the workout with some of my favorite lifts: pull-ups, squats, dls, and lunges. Also, my focus was right on throughout the workout. I had the "I'll do just one more exercise before I leave" compared to the "I'll skip that last set and go home" mentality.
