Lose Fat on the Depo Shot
My girlfriend is currently on the Dep Provera which is a type of birth control. But she is trying to lose this excess fat and no matter what she does she can't lose. And she is very physically fit. Does any of the women know if its possible to lose fat on the Depo shot? If so is there any secret cause i've tried to help her in every way.
Thanks.

Depo is evil - if her only problem is not losing fat, she's very lucky indeed.

I've heard that Depo's #1 side effect is weight gain. My Dr. was going to put me on it until I told her that staying in good shape was important to me. . . she said it probably wouldn't happen on Depo.

I put on over 30lbs on depo... not to mention the depression, anxiety & other problems
It says this on the depo site: -
You shouldn't use DEPO-PROVERA if you could be pregnant, if you have had any unexplained periods, or if you have a history of breast cancer, blood clots, stroke, or liver disease. When using DEPO-PROVERA, there may be a possible decrease in the amount of bone mineral stored in your bones. This could increase your risk of developing osteoporosis. Talk to your health care provider to see if DEPO-PROVERA is right for you.
Some women using DEPO-PROVERA have side effects. The most common are irregular periods or spotting. Many women stop having periods altogether after a few months. Some may gain weight. The average weight gain after 1 year of use was 5.4 lb from an initial body weight of 136 lb.

But that is not even a quarter of the full story.

you know, i'm impressed you could find that staistic about the "average" weight gain. I looked for it and couldn't.
So much misinformation and marketing on the net.

Have her stop taking the depo shot immediately. My wife only took it once. Once the first period came, she didn't stop spotting for almost 3 months. Plus she gained 15 lbs while being very active (in the military).

It was on the main depo site at http://depo-provera.com/ in the "What to expect from... " section. They make it sound so wonderful - it should not be allowed, evil stuff.
Before I went on it, the doc told me that most women put on about 2lbs in the first six months, another 2lbs after that, then no more weight gain - such BS.
