Weight, measurements, no progress, V-diet question...
My husband wanted us to do another round on the Velocity diet, and I agreed because I'm really getting worried about his health in relation to weight. He's done great, dropped about 8 lbs this week, from 270 to 262.
As for me, I started at 138 on Monday, dropped to 136 on Wednesday and haven't dropped any more since. So, I figure it was a little bit of water weight, but I can't figure out why I haven't dropped any more. I did lose 1/2" off my waist, 1/2" off my hips, and 3/4" from my thigh.
I'm just confused about my lack of progress. I did substitute a few of my water shakes for low carb milk (8gP/3gC/5gF) from Monday to Wednesday (because my mood is very negatively affected by carb depletion), but stopped after I saw my reduced progress. Even during that time I adjusted my totals so my total cals didn't differ - and my protein never dropped below 73%.
I only worked out once this week, and spent the rest recovering from DOMS, so I don't think I've added some crap load of muscle that would hide fat loss. And as usual, the diet is never a total loss: it resets my cravings (damn, tuna in a can hasn't made my mouth water in years!) I haven't even looked at a Diet Dr Pepper, but can't get enough water, and gets rid of bloat (my stomach is FLAT).
Any thoughts, help - other than Aaron coming along to ask me why in Hell anyone would want to do this diet? (Just kidding, Aaron!)

Why the hell would anyone do this diet ;p
OK that was kind of a joke but it a question as well. I have done atkins the original keto, south beach and on and on so I know an answer. It seems like nothing else will work. I am just wondering if there is somthing that made you and your husband try it the first time want to do it again knowing it is impossible to maintain as a life style.
p.s. please know there is no judgment just a honest question.
O.k. now for what I think is the answer to your question. The first time you did it, it worked well because your body sucked up the easily accessable nutrients it had been needing for a long time and got rid of the waste it was able to get rid of that it had not been able to before. This time you body is not as baad off as it was and knows (yes I said knows or has addapted) whats comming and it is not in such a hurry to change.

Haven't we covered this in another thread?
It's a diet for quick loss, to jump start if you will. It's not a life-style. I never pretended it was a lifestyle, and maybe it's because I'm carb-depleted and irritable, but it's a bit frustrating to have choices that we made responsibly questioned. *sigh*
It's not meant to be done for an extended time. Can you do me a favor and check out the original diet first, at least? I've stated before, as have others, that the general rebound is only a pound or two if you go to a clean diet afterwards. I've prepped for competition before, I've manipulated my diet successfully. I'm not a noob who found some miracle cure and jumped on it.
However, I think you may be right about my body adjusting. I was suspicious of that, but doubtful since my husband was having success. I noticed JustDragIt was also having lower response this time than last. Perhaps I'll contact him for his opinion as well.

I was just asking why you decided to go this route. I did write after what I said that it was not judgmental and an honest question. I was looking for "it's somthing me and my husband can do together or it's easy and it fits well with my busy schedual or I have tried a ton of things and this is the only thing that worked for both me and my husband.
I have just started to read and learn about this diet and no I did not read where others went over this in another thread I appologize if you have to repeat yourself on my account. I never accused you of trying to find a miricle cure and I assumed you did not plan on making it a lifestyle which is why I asked.
"I am just wondering if there is somthing that made you and your husband try it the first time want to do it again knowing it is impossible to maintain as a life style?"
that was a question as to how it worked or what the benifits were to it that make you want to do it again. I tried to make it clear I was asking honest questions and not attacking you sorry if I didn't.
Ok I will leave now and again I am sorry for offending you

Sorry. I'm tellin' ya, carb depletion really screws with me. I repeatedly attempt carb cycling, and always end in dismal failure because I'm so bitchy my kids avoid me and my friends quit answering the phone. (slightly sarcastic, but with a grain of truth)
I took your "knowing it is impossible to maintain as a life style?" as assumption that we would use this as a long term solution.
I don't really want to get much into why we are going a 2nd round or this will become a relationship thread. LOL.
I do appreciate your input, and think you were correct about adjusting. I also have a suspicion my husband's diet BETWEEN rounds 1 and 2 were not nearly as clean as he would have me believe.

crabbies lol thats why I wanted to make surre you knew I was not trying to attack you.
and lol at husbands diet may not have been as clean as he said. Its not his fault I swore up and down that I ate high protien and medium low or lower fat less then 30% and I really believed it untill I started logging everything on fitday adn I was comming in at 100 g of protein and 45 to 52% fat in my diet. He like me prob believes he is eating clean but is not.
