by Steven Pratt, MD, and Kathy Matthews. I just bought this book last night (early Mother's Day present ). I love it! The author puts forth the latest scientific fact on 14 super foods. It isn't alternative medicine/unproved theory, but up-to-date information on powerful foods that are chocked full of phytonutrients. An example - The author relates that turkey is good for your immune system because it is rich in zinc, and the zinc it contains is far more bioavailable than the zinc from nonmeat sources. The section on blueberries is very interesting. Blueberries were considered almost subnutritious (is that a word?) at one time. Now it is known that they are a powerhouse. No hokum here, just fact. I plan to start incorporating these foods weekly and some of them daily, including 2 cups of nonfat plain yogurt a day, berries daily, beans daily , etc. Has anyone taken a look at the book?

Pizza faired well because of the lycopene from tomatoes. Beer is not listed, probably because it doesn't have any polyphenols . The food suggestions are about what we should be adding to our diets, not about eliminating any foods. Walnuts are one of the top fourteen foods. I eat those everyday anyway. Part of my program to lower my blood lipids....

Beer is good if you like it.............lol.
Seriously, It contains a lot of Chromium.
Chromium is importan to the bodybuilder becuase it helps regualte insulin whiuch of course, asd in gaining lean mass,. ie. building muscle.
Sadly beer contains alcohol which is basically a real negative excpet for the buzzzzzzz or the relaxation.'The unexamined life is not worth living'.-Socrates.
