General Cardio Question
I am new to working out and I'm constantly seeking advice from people that are in shape and work out regularly. Everyone seems to give me a different answer for this question.
What do you do first? Weight train or cardio??
Most people say Cardio and others say weight train. In the gym I notice people that weight train do the weights first.
Can someone please tell me the real deal or if it even matters?
And in case it matters my goals are to lose fat and gain muscle definition.

IMO, it depends on how much body fat you need to drop

If your to shy then tell us what your body fat % may eb and what you want to accomplish
EDIT: I see your previous reply.. You need to hit cardio and diet first IMHO.. If you add to much weight training to start off, the scales are gonna deter you.

that is fine, but you will still need to clean up your diet and add cardio to aid in the loss of 30lbs

I would forget that advice right away.
As far as weights.....
throw out the low weight high reps business. Resistance training is used to build muscle. I would keep your reps in the 10-12 range or so. Remember resistance training is done to build muscle, if you don't want to build muscle then don't do resistance training. Many women worry about getting too big. Your not going to get too big though. You don't have the hormones and your not eating enough to get all bulked up.
Remember the muscle you build will substantially raise you rmetabolism and you will in return burn more fat. The more muscle you build the more fat you lose.
I know it is hard to get over the "get tone" idea of of high reps low weight. Remember all tone is is building muscle and having low bodyfat. So use your weight lifting to build the muscle and diet and cardio to burn the fat.
Please stick to the weight training. The biggest mistake women make is not doing the weights and only cardio. Lifting weights will help you lose so much more weight.
as far as cardio....
do it, it is good for health and will aid in losing weight. But weight training and diet are flat out more important to you losing weight than cardio.

weights first then cardio. You don't have to take my word for all that either. Just look into it and you'll find the same things I've told you. I mean just break it down in your head.....
lifting weights is simply done to build muscle. If we don't want to build muscle then don't lift weights. So what is the point of lifting in the 20-30 rep range? Since that sort of lifting promotes muscular endurance not hypertrophy.
Let the cardio focus on endurance and burning extra calories and work on your cadiovascular shape, let the weights build muscle.
And the more muscle you have the more fat you will burn.
When someone tells you to liftin in the 20-30 rep range ask them, why? They will say "because that is for toning". Ask them what "toning" is. That word kills it all. Remember all "tone" is is the appearance of muscle with little fat. So you use the weights to build that muscle and then the diet and cardio to burn the fat and voila' you'll look "tone".
