Weird sleep experiences
So I know about sleep paralysis, and personally it has never happened to me, but I've got few sleeping experiences that made me go "what the **** **** bitch, son".
First happened when I was sleeping over at my friend's house. Now that ****er's house is COLD at night, so I layed in my jacket, under a thin blanket hugging myself. I closed my eyes for literally a second, and when I opened them it was already morning. Usually when I sleep, I am sort of aware of the passage of time - especially when I have dreams. But that time it was an instant. And when I woke up I was in the exact same position as when I went to sleep. That might've contributed.
Second, is when I was in my English class and like any good student, I was sleeping with an Ipod in my ears. I have a habit of having this half sleep, half awake thing going on(more like 75% sleep), and I would ALWAYS dream, and sometimes I would dream I fall down or something happens to me and all of a sudden I JUMP UP! And the whole class is looking at my like I'm crazy. But anyway, I was having one of those things again, and all of a sudden I felt like someone's tipping my chair back and I just keep falling, and falling, it was a crazy feeling and very real too. I jumped up and looked behind me, ready to knock that ****er's teeth out, but no one was there, and my chair was still standing.
Last is a little weird. I was at my house sleeping on a couch, and there was nothingness but gradually I started coming to my senses. It's hard to explain, it felt like I was dead and all of a sudden came back to life, I don't even think I was breathing before that, because I took a really deep breath involuntarily when I regained my senses.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I also have sleep paralysis and just a few days ago it happened. Looked like a black shadow was at the foot of my bed just making weird noises. It was crazy as hell.

sometimes i wake up and i experience extreme disorientation. I'll look at a clock and I can't read it: I see the numbers, but they have no meaning to me. also, if someone's talking to me, i can't organize a response. it wears off gradually over a period of a few mins.

Sometimes an answer to something that has been bothering or troubling me will just materialize in my head while I'm falling asleep. It's almost like I'm more lucid, or my mind is more awake when I'm falling asleep then when I'm awake.
I've had answers to test questions that I couldn't figure out just pop in my head while I was falling asleep.
I've never had sleep paralysis but the stories freak me out. I hope it never happens.

Oh yeah I remember a story about some scientists that couldn't figure some **** out, then he dreamed about two snakes eating each other's tails and somehow that was the answer to his problem. I forgot who it was or how it went exactly, but yeah.

the "hypnic jerk" and sleep paralysis are actually related. When your brain starts to disconnect from the body, you get a falling sensation and it has a tendency to freak you out. It's why you jump when you first start falling asleep.
The paralysis is meant to help us so that we don't act out our dreams but it comes with the side effect of not being able to defend ourselves when we're being attacked by demons and aliens, lol.

most people don't talk about it because they think they are going crazy but i posted about it on another forum im on each time it happened
Quote:
a few weeks before finals i woke up hearing rustling noises and motion in my room, i tried to get up to take care of whatever was going down but i couldnt move. i felt a huge pressure on my chest and was totally motionless. i could feel myself trying to raise my arms but they felt held down. then it got really ****ed up. i look down to the edge of my bed and see this ****ing haggard skeletal corpse just looking down my bed, with its arms up across the sheets. i freaked the **** out until i could move my arms and then it all kind of passed by.
last night i went to sleep at home when i wake up to rustling like a cat, feel like someone is holding my chest down, and look up to see a kind of disembodied thin figure in black pointing at me (hurr hurr black sabbath), and then reaching down to my leg. untterly terrifying. i think i managed to get out a "**** you" before i got up and was fully aware. this time it seemed like i was more able to move my body but still ****ing freaky.
|
Quote:
oh man it happened again but this was very different. i opened my eyes and heard a lot of wind, so i knew it was happening and i was like "OH **** IT IS ON" but i still couldnt move, but i was kinda aware that it was going down. so i start looking around and this grey shape materialize. it was definitely freaky in a tim burton way, and it moved like in the ring, where itd make a lot of headway in a short time, missing a few frames of movement. i started trying to move but it wasnt happening so i just locked eyes with it. it came closer but didnt touch my bed and by then i was able to get my head up. all in all i knew what was going down while it happened, but though it was ****ing horrifying, i was very deliberate in staring down this corpse thing. it looked like a tim burton/hr gieger thing
|
Quote:
|
oh man i forgot to tell you. thursday night it happened again, but instead i woke up and there was this kinda green 6 legged thing on my bed. it had LONG thin legs and a thick body, like an insect from hell. and also crazy red eyes and it was just there by my arms. it stuck out this long mouth tube and was looking like it was gonna start siphoning blood before i broke out of it. funny thing was that i was having a dream beforehand where i was trying to pick up something that had fallen out of a bag, and in the dream my arms felt like they were getting weaker and weaker, and i could barely pick up rags to put them in the bag and i was getting really pissed off and working hard. then i realized it and wsa like "OH **** HERE IT GOES" before i know it i was thrown into my room and paralyzed with this bug in my face. no chest pressure this time. and i didnt yel intentionally. i just kinda focused my mind and was able to get free.
|
Quote:
|
i think this is leading to lucid dreaming because i was in my dream and controlling what songs were playing in the background and then started feeling weak and paralyzed again and knew exactly what was about to happen but i had fallen asleep with my blanket over my face so i couldnt really see anything and basically broke off the paralysis within seconds although i did feel the blanket pushing on my body.
|
Quote:
|
hmm, last night i had a dream i was getting a bj and then got pulled into the paralysis, but still felt a bj, but i looked down and nothing was there. i rode it out for a little while because, hey free bj, and then kind of broke out of the state of paralysis at will
|
Quote:
so it happened again last night. however now when it happens i am totally aware of what is going down, so i dont' freak out anymore.
i was having an amazing dream about hooking up with this girl that i used to hang out with a lot, when i got the "falling out of a dream" feeling. and the paralysis set in, but my covers were over my face, so i was like "ah **** theres something horrible in my room but i cant even move the covers to see" but i also knew it wasnt real so i was kinda laughing at how insanely torturous it was. so i kinda tried to focus on my body parts but nothing was moving, and it felt really windy. then my covers started to move, as if there was something touching it with hands, but it didnt pull back, just creepily stroked in front of my face. it was so ridiculously horrific that i was almost laughing because come on what the ****. i wish i could talk in these things because i wanted to tell the demon or whatever to stop touching my face, but eventually i got to moving and everything was normal. no demon descriptions this time, sorry. also i wasnt drunk or on drugs, but i figured it out, this happens when i take a nap during the day
|
when this happens a lot you become aware of what is occurring and it becomes less of a problem

you actually do get sleep paralysis. Several times throughout the night. It occurs during every REM cycle. If you didn't, you'd be out murdering people in your sleep, or pissing in your neighbors flower pots, etc.

Thats happened to me before. I was at my grandmas house sleeping on the couch. I woke up in the middle of the night to go take a leak, I come back, lay on the couch and close my eyes for what felt like a second, open them again and its sunny outside and my grandma is in the kitchen drinking coffee
I've also had dreams where I can control myself in the dream, so badass. One time I was a ninja turtle, another time I was jumping off cliffs and flying

I hate getting sleep paralysis. Nothing as bad as capn's, but everytime it happens, I can't breathe. I struggle to part my lips, but it seems impossible. Can't lift my arms, can't make a sound. Man I feel pathethic everytime.

Those are called lucid dreams as far as I'm aware. I've had one so far that I could remember.

You are my hero for lucid dreaming. I've tried so many times but when I realize I'm dreaming and that I can control it, I automatically wake up for some reason. I've only been able to manipulate and create in my dreams like twice and holy crap it's awesome.

Same, whenever I realize "wait a minute, this is a dream" I just wake up. But one time I had a dream I was at school with my friends, and all of a sudden I had the "oh this is a dream" revelation, and started doing crazy wallflips and crap to impress my friends, it felt awesome.

I hate the feeling of helplessness you get when it happens.
Weirdest dream so far: I'm inside a train station, can't breathe (or actually seem to be holding my breath now that I think about it). Can only breathe only when I cross the stile. Bloody card won't work, stiles won't move. I remembered waking up, paralysed, still can't breathe. Then I went back to sleep lol.
2nd weirdest dream: I sucked my own penis. As I continued sucking, it got longer and thinner. (serious)
