Is peanut butter good or bad?
I was reading the nutritional facts and notice that most of the calories from peanut butter are mainly fat calories. I do not know about other brands of peanut butter, but I am currently eating the Skippy brand. If peanut butter consist mainly of fat calories then is it any healthier than eating fast food.

Are you kidding? Peanut butter is amazing!
Seriously though, the fats in peanut butter are good fats. Preferably go for the natural pb, and as always eat it in moderation!

Get all natural brand peanut butter made from peanuts. It is good for you. I recommend Crazy Richards.

Let me preface this by saying: Fats are not bad!
Now, in all honesty, pb is not that good for you taking into consideration the high omega 6:3 ratio and the presence of aflatoxin (toxic, carcinogenic toxin produced by Aspergillus fungus, which inhabit almost all peanuts).
But, that said, everything in moderation: there is no way I am completely giving up my pb!

Not all peanuts contain aflatoxin. Valencia peanut butter is my favorite and doesn't contain that toxin. All said PB is a great source of good fats although almond butter/cashew butter is slightly better for you. I would never give up my peanut butter. I enjoy a tbsp on wheat toast with some natural, no sugar added jam every morning.

True, I probably should have emphasized the "almost all".
Valencia peanuts (which in the US are primarily grown in New Mexico) are pretty much free from the fungus due to the arid conditions. I don't think it has anything to do with the type of peanut, but I could be wrong.

i cant believe people actually pay money for Skippy brand peanut butter. just amazing. SKippy adds all sorts of ****ty additives, sugar, oils, and other crap to make it "smooth"
they also use the absolute cheapest (ie lowest grade) peanuts.

This shocks you in a nation where TRILLIONS have been served at McDonalds? Additives in PB seem comparatively tame, dont you think?

buy natural pb, they contain healthy fats (not all fats are bad!) and most of them taste good (some natural peanut butter... not so much, just choose one that fits your needs / tastes good)

if youir a health freak like me, get peanut butter that has peanuts and salt for ingredients. Not all that other **** (sweeteners and preservitives) that clogs your arteries and has no nutritional value; its even bad for you. Put a glob of skippy somewhere in the open and keep it there untill you see it rot. I'll save you many many months, it won't. Real peanut butter costs a tiny bit more and is ALOT healthier for you. Store it upside down, so when you open it you can mix it easier, don't drain it, and refrigerate it, or guess what will happen? it will rot and mold like all other healthy, natural products will do.

Eat the peanut butter!
Little tip: take a boring bit, or a fork you no longer care about, and insert it into the end of your power drill, stick the apparatus in the unmixed jar of peanut butter, and put some real horsepower to it!

Doesnt peanut butter also contain 2-3 g of Sat Fat (which is pretty high considering the 2 tbsp serving on most), which is an unhealthy fat right?

I usually undress the whole jar with my eyes first, but I usually only take 2-3 Tbsp of that sexy goodness before I have to exercise some restraint. One of these days, though...

Been there, done that. But it was after running a half-marathon, and I figured I'd earned it.

I drink 3 protein drinks a day. One when I wake, One after the gym and the last before bed. When I wake up and go to sleep I throw a fat scoop of PB in my shake. The fats make rest of the protein break down slower as you sleep and threw out the day. I don't eat any after I work out though. Nothing but simple carbs and whey after a workout(to spike insulin).

1 jar of Smucker's Natural PB has 11 servings. Lasts me 11 days.
However, 1 jar during a cheat meal lasts 1 meal.
