Weight Watchers 0 points?

Do 0 points eventually add up or are they always 0 no matter how much you consume? I'm trying this for the first time and that has been a reoccurring question.

no clue at all..........I am not a big fan of weight watchers....you could probably go their website and get that answered though.

0 pts within reason was what I used to hear. I also dislike that program, though. For example, non-starchy vegetables are zero points. Actually, though if you consume multiple cups of a vegetable that has 60 calories per cup- yes, it will add up to a couple or few hundred calories. Not as fast as cheetos, but If there were foods that had not one calorie- weight watchers would not be the only ones who knew about it

I actually like WW because it easy for people (like me) who find it too tedious to look up calories and log it all every single day. In fact, if you aren't eating those "zero point foods" you probably aren't eating enough calories! I follow the point system currently, make sure I am eating as clean as possible, AND I eat all my flex points and activity points, and when I double check myself once in a while on fitday, doing all of that puts me right where I need to be with regards to Harris Benedict and all the recommendations on here. If I didn't eat those zero point foods, my calories would be down near 1100. Currently, I get about 1400-1500 on non-workout days, and 1700-1800 on workout days.

That being said, zero point foods aren't zero points if you consume enough of it, but they are still low points, so keep eating them. They are SUPER important. When you plan out your meals, make sure you are getting enough protein, and make sure you are getting some protein at every meal and snack. I still eat 5-6 times a day on the program, lean protein, whole grain carbs, healthy fats, lots of fruit and vegetables. DEFINITELY DON'T fall into the trap of the WW foods, 100 calorie packs, etc without reading the labels for macronutrients and ingedients. I don't eat anything that has high fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated oils - partially or fully. Hope this helps! PM me anytime if you have more questions!

If you are doing WW, make absolutely sure that you log every single bit of exercise you do. Most WW people do not exercise intensely, and the system is geared towards people who mostly sit and take an occasional brisk walk. If you do significant cardio and lift hard, make sure you are getting the points value in your diet.

Also, give yourself extra fats. The WW system doesn't differenciate between a fatty food like french fries and something like salmon. You need a certain amount of fats for good health, so make sure you supplement with things like fish oil.

Eileen,

Actually WW *does* differentiate between fats. One of the daily requirements is two teaspoons of a good healthy oil such as olive or flax etc. According to WW's 'Good Health Guidelines', you are to "have some healthy oil (olive, canola, sunflower or flaxseed) each day. This habit ensures that you get the essential fatty acids and vitamin E that your body needs..."

I lost 50 lbs on WW. My leader always said that yeah, eventually the veggies add up to more than 0 points. But honestly, how many people do you know that got fat from eating too much broccoli? It's all the other junk!

Alot of WW'ers (going by the ww.com forums) don't count pts for veggies (ever) but DO count pts for 0-pt junk foods- the reason being that veggies are healthy, chemicals and processed carp isn't- even if it IS 0pts LOL
