How much is 8 oz of chicken?

The chicken I usually buy comes with 3 breasts. I'm not sure how big 8 oz is though. I just eat one breast and it's a pretty big breast. Can anybody post a picture of how big the chicken breast they eat for a meal looks like with something next to it for scale? I think the piece I'm eating is way bigger than 8 oz but I need to make sure.

Get a food scale. You can get a decent one fairly cheap. But 8 ounces of chicken is about what your average sized breast looks like.
I'm not in this for the trophy; I'm in it for the hypertrophy.

I weighed a pair of breasts.. they came up to 400g. So in theory half of one is 6-7oz.

Chickens differ in sizes man, best to get a scale if you're wanting to be anal about grams.

People, even professionals, routinely underestimate the quantity of food they are eating because they judge it relative to the size of the plate/container, etc. Google "Brian Wansink" and you'll know what I mean.

I believe Marian Burros of the NYT sat a group of professional dieticians, nutritionists down for a meal, asked them to estimate the number of calories in the meal and then had identical portions shipped off for caloric analysis. They all got it wrong, long story short.

The moral of the story is: get a scale.

cheap spring scale at walmart. $5....totally worth it.

My wife sometimes THINKS she knows how much to measure out without weighing or using a measuring cup. One night I stopped her, weighed or measured each item on her plate...she was around 30% UNDER what she needed...

Easy answer... take the total weight of the three breasts. It should be printed on the package next to the price. Then divide by three.

The package you bought contains 3 breasts? Thats either a very small amount of chicken (chicken is usually sold in 3+ lb bags) or those pieces must be HUGE. In the 3 lb bags I get, there are usually 8 breasts.

I was gonna post a pic per your original request, but I think you just answered your own question. Package weight = 3 lbs, Package contents = 3 breasts, single breast weight = 1 lb (16 oz).

By the way, if your numbers are correct, those are some huge breasts.

Not gonna work. This thread is from 2007. That iPhone didn't exist until 2008, so it's useless to OP. Find another.

I have always heard that a 4 oz. serving of meat should be roughly the size of a deck of cards so for 8 oz. it should be the size of two decks of cards.
