are you talking about losing weight or getting rid of the loose skin? skin has elasticity which causes it to expand, when you lose a lot of weight quickly it wont shrink back down like it should have. if you're just wanting to lose some weight then i guess we'd need to know what your goals are. if you want to get rid of the excess skin, you might consider talking to a doctor about it.

i dont see any reason to not lose the weight that you ultimately want to lose. but if this does become something that you see a doctor about he might tell you otherwise. so, if you're serious about seeing a doctor, do that first. he'll be able to better advise you. go check with your family doctor first, he'll probably redirect you to a specialist.

It's fat, keep going. Skin is paper thin, that is not skin. It looks 'ugly' because the loose skin does not hold it all in tight. Worry about the skin after you have lost ALL the fat and maintained for awhile. Drink lots of water to help the skin repair itself, you look young so it should go back, mine did and I'm 36 years old. why not try to fill in the loose skin with muscle? Eat clean for a while with lots of protien. Remember there is no such thing as spot reduction. So don't do a million situps a day to get rid of gut. Do full body workouts so that muscle develops all over and the bigger your muscles get the tighter your skin gets.

I think loosing about 10lb more will help, but deffo see a doctor about the loose skin!"Bodybuiling is a Marathon, not a sprint"

-Atheist- are you saying you had an abdominoplasty? How much did that cost? How's the scars? Guess I was just lucky with all my loose skin maybe. (I lost 80 lbs in 6 months and am 36 years old.) The harder I work the luckier I get. Look at that pic again, where he is at I think it would be liposuction & abdominoplasty.
Put some muscle on, NeedHelp77, that will burn off the rest of the fat and you can see where you are at. Give it some time, don't just jump under the knife. What's the rush? HTH, Odin__________________________

Hey, NeedHelp77, I have a really good question for you. Why are you posting the same pic and question that you just did 2 weeks ago in this thread?
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hreadid=246516
You got alot of good responses on that one, even STR8FLEXED gave you his opinion! The pic that was posted there for you by DeezGst showed what can be done. You ended up that thread with:
Okay guys here is my new plan....Can you tell me what you guys think?
Gallon of water per day.
Half hour of cardio before breakfast everyday
Breakfast of eggs and cheese.
blah,blah,blah(edited to save bandwidth)
Weightlift at night due to work
Have a class of milk with protein supplement..
Look man, I have been here 4 years, I have 7 posts and I apparently wasted 4 of them on you now. After 2 weeks I expect a ****ing progress pic, not another dumb question.
Thank you,

Hey Odin....not here to argue, just addressing a different question which was not based upon in the other thread. I will remember your name and make an honorable post just for you on a progress pic. Two weeks is too soon for a progress pic. Also, injured my knee, so relax man. Sorry if it bothered you.

It's cool NeedHelp77. If you want my honest opinion (you will probably not believe me) I would say that you have a good 15 or probably 20 more lbs to go. I know you don't want to hear that.
You store fat in the same places I do. I was at 180 when I finished cutting for the 1st time and I had more muscle mass than you appear to. AND I'M 6 FOOT 3 INCHES. I saw in your other thread that you are 6'. People always underestimate their fat. I thought for sure I would see abs at 200 lbs. I didn't and I kept going, another 5, no, another 5, no another 5...See what I mean? When I got done people were asking me if I was sick and sh!t. I didn't care, I was tired of being fat all my life. (I was 300 lbs at one point with 0 LBM, skinny-obese). The skin was hanging, a couple of clean bulks later it looked ok.
Anyway, abs are made in the kitchen as everyone says, and why waste all of your hard work in the gym without a good nutrition plan. Study up and stick to whatever you set out on. Good luck to you and I look forward to your progress pic. You would be surprised what I can do in 2 weeks, surprise yourself. At 1 lb a week you would have been 10% there.
Later,

After reading your story, and viewing your pic, like you said one of the biggest problems was that you were losing weight too fast, and not eating enough to build muscle while losing fat. (Please.. don't everyone jump and say "no you can't lose fat, and build muscle!!!.. Yes you can.. it's called smart/healthy eating.)
Protein is extremly important, it's fundamental for building muscle. You might have heard this over and over again, but it just cannot be emphasized enough. The 40-40-20 (Protein, Carb, Fat) way of eating (I don't liked to coin the phrase "diet"), is in my opinion, the healthiest and most sustainable way of eating over the long-term, remember your making a total lifestyle change. It's not something that is going to last a few weeks, a month, a few months, or even a year, hopefully your doing this to better your health in the long run. The average person on this site, will never compete in a professional bodybuilding competition (including myself), so I can't really justify the whole "bulk" and "cut" idea, I'd rather stay lean all year and slowly add some mass over time until I'm happy, but then again.. everyone is going to be different.
There is a TON of information on this website, use it to your advantage and best of luck to you in the future.

I agree pretty much with Canadian_AF on everything he said. When you don't have alot of muscle, you can grow some with 'newbie' gains while still dropping fat IMO. I did. I also agree with his opinion on clean bulking. As a former fat boy, I can't just let it all go to bulk, I won't go much above 15% BF. I am coming to the end of a clean bulk at 205 and I can still pretty much see my abs. I will cut for summer to a 6-pack/10% or so in a month or 6 weeks tops. I also like Canadian_AF's take on dieting, no such thing to me. It's a lifestyle change in the way you look at food. Once you do alot of research on what 'bad' foods do to you, you really don't want to eat them. I don't.
But I also think if you were really fat for a long time with little LBM, you should get to 12% or so and maintain for a little while before really trying to 'bulk' or you are primed for a major rebound. I think you have to 'reset' the fat setpoint that your body wants to stay at. That being said, I still think YOU can still build alot of muscle during the rest of this cutting phase if you lift heavy and have proper nutrition.
Yes, you should be spreading your calories to least 6 meals a day, lots of protein with each. Getting EFAs is essential IMO. Protein, vitamin, salmon oil, and I like creatine for cutting, helps me keep from going flat and weak. I hate to keep pimping the same stuff, but I think Berardi at T-Mag has it right on nutrition (although I don't take the P+C and P+F to the extreme) and Lipoderm-Y was made for guys like you & me.
To answer your last question directly, YES, I think you can lose the rest and your gut will look perfectly normal except for maybe stretch marks. (Can't see if you have them, but I know I do.) After you get to 10-12% BF, it may hang some, it takes a little while for the skin to catch up. You are young, it will go back. As you bring calories to maint levels and build your abs up it will look great. You will need to build some more muscle to look really good. It will take time. Realistically I think if you bust your ass you could look decent this summer & amazing next summer. When I set out my goal was just to look like an average guy, I reached that and then set out to look better than the next guy. I think after this next cut I will reach that one. As they say in NASCAR, if you ain't on the gas then you are on the brakes. HTH, Odin__________________________

I'm a former fatty as well LOL. I was overweight for the majority of my life, at 18 (took me long enough :P), I started to change my lifestyle, that's after my father had a quadruple bypass at 41, so it sort of had a permanent effect on my outlook on life, and how we treat our bodies. Sometimes it takes a shocker like that for you to realize, life is crazy sometimes like that eh?
I was never "obese", I was always the chunky kid, 25-30lbs overweight, doesn't seem like much to some people.. but I know it sure hurt me when I played some sports in high school. I lost that weight in a year with consistent weight training, and alot of walking to college, and from college to the gym, etc.. I have a few small stretch marks on my stomach but that's pretty much it, they're almost completely gone now, so if your only 19, you still have LOTS of time for your skin to rebound like everyone has mentioned.
It all comes back to willpower, and determination. More Effort = More Results. Less Effort = Less Results. I see so many people at the gym everyday that look like they just crawled out of bed, and they have absolutely no motivation to work hard, and then they wonder why their results arent' that great... go figure!!
Keep working hard and you will acheive your goals !!!!Always, under the underneath...

You posted this same picture about a month ago and I posted a very straight foward example of what loose skin looks like. Dig up the thread and look at that picture again, SKIN IS AS THIN AS PAPER. I have lost 96lbs and I have very little loose skin.. You still have a good 10-15lbs to drop.

I saw something like your extra skin on that mtv show "I want a famous face" This chick had that bipass surgery and since she lost so much weight right away her stomach was really droopy. She wound up getting lipo and it will take her over a year to heal, but your case is no where as bad as hers, so yeah i think you should go to your doctor so that you wont be wasting your time.
