That doesnt look like a very solid program. You should check out the workout program stickies and maybe the ones on teen bb boards to.

Could you be more specific? What do you mean by "a very solid program?"

Why would I want to check the teen boards? I'm not a teen.

Thanks for trying to help, but you haven't helped at all.

Before you suggest anything to anyone, think about the possibility that they know more than you do, have been working out longer than you've been alive, not your sex, not your size, not your metabolism, not your level of health, etc.

I suggesred the teen stickies because they have some useful info on how to make a solid routine.

What I meant by solid is something that will give you great results in a short amount of time.

Some immediate problems that I see are:
    1) training arms before chest
    2) training less hard exercises before tough ones
    3) having weights already thought out- you should increase weight each week
    4) training the full body 5 days in a row
    5) the extra stuff on sunday, i have never heard of, but it sounds kinda weird

Maybe if you posted your goals and current stats it would be easier to say if it will work or not. But training every muscle 5-6 days in a row does not work.

I was just trying to give constructive criticism, and avoid completely re-posting what has already been stickied.

I dont think youve been working out for longer than ive been alive, or you would probably have come up with a better routine by now. You seem like someone who is new to this stuff and needs a hand.

    Stop, please.

At 14 years old, you are in no position to be criticizing with any hope of anyone taking you seriously, except maybe someone younger.

You simply do not have enough experience, nor knowledge of the subject.

Age doesn't matter when weightlifting. I know of some 15,16 year olds who are huge, and it's from their experience.

I have to agree with him that your routine isn't very good. What are you trying to accomplish goal wise.

Number one stereotype at bodybuilding forums:
Anyone who posts a thread is male

Number two stereotype at bodybuilding forums:
All members want to get huge

Listen, I'm a cardio athlete and need to work out most days of the week. I have a specific metabolic problem caused by prolonged low caloric intake.

I'm on a cyclical ketogenic diet.

My goal is to reduce muscle bulk and burn fat.

Junior really was out of line for saying I was working "every muscle 5-6 times a week." Wrong. Go back and read what I typed.

He's further out of line for saying he didn't know the calisthenics, but rejected them anyway because they "sounded weird."

His bizarre implication to not have a plan for the amount of weights to lift. WTF??

Finally, his illogical reasoning that I couldn't possibly have been working out longer than he's been alive because my routine didn't fit into his limited knowledge.

Just like you saying my routine is wrong before knowing what my goals are.

You're too full of preconceptions about what "should" be done. You have no knowledge of my background, experiences and physiology.

Next time, gather the facts before making a judgement.

Number 1 misconception of new members: They think that whatever they're doing is right, and won't listen to other members.

Number 2 misconception of new members: Training certain body parts multiple times per week.

If your're trying to reduce muscle bulk then what is the point of lifting? Unless your purpose is to overtrain? From what I see of your workout you're training legs 4 days a week.

Sword hasn't been out of line he was trying to HELP you. But you see, you're just dismissing him without even listening to him and from the sound of it's because he is male.

It's not illogical for him to say you're routine is messed up, because it is. You should take his advice and read the stickies. Just because you're not a teen, doesn't mean you can't learn anything from them, that's just plain arrogant on your part, which goes along with the way you have been sounding.

And next time why dont' you post the "facts"

Hey Eyes Open, if you wanted everybody to know that then why didn't you post it at first so everybody could take your personal information (your metabolic problem, goals, etc.) into consideration?

    I'm not a new member.

I have posted my stats and my metabolic problem, just not in the workout journal section.

No duh. I'm working my legs all week because I have to for my sport.

I am not about to listen to a 14 year old boy who uses vague terms and generally dismisses exercises because he hasn't heard of them.

His posting showed he does not know what he's talking about.

Eyes open the purpose of posting a journal is to get constructive critisism from fellow body builders, sword chucks gave you some and you threw it back in his face. there is no need to be insultive just explain your situation.

First of all, why should I accept criticism when it is useless? I told him why it was useless and that's all there is to it. If you post a suggestion with an expectation that it will be followed, you're in for a huge disappoinment.

Secondly, would you have made that suspiciously whiny complaint about "throwing it back in his face" if I were a male? I doubt it. I've seen more direct and irrational insults shot between guys on this website over the most inane issues than I care to recall.

In this case, I outlined my reasons for rejecting his assumption-rife suggestions and unbelievably self aggrandizing conclusions. You seem to want to impose some hurt feelings on his part. That's your choice. From his posts, I can tell he can speak for himself.

As I have said before, ask the rationale (get the facts) behind the plan before claiming it won't do what's intended.

If he had done that originally, this particular string of responses would probably been avoided.

Furthermore, I posted this thread in order to begin a progress record.

Well how were we supposed to know about your problem if you didn't post it here? There are over 45,000 members and it gets kind of hard to keep track of every single person.

I'm asking you. Could you go in detail about your metabolic problem, goals for your training, your prior lifting experience, and whether or not you are willing to let a 16 year old make comments in your journal and possibly offer advice?

I really don't know whether you would be able to help, because I am a woman and much older than you.

However, to satisfy your questions this is my current situation:

Extremely low metabolic rate due to prolonged low caloric intake and very high cardio expenditure. Inexplicably gained 30 pounds between January and March 2003. After continuing to work out for three additional months with no loss of the increased bodyfat, I fasted until I lost 20lbs.

Went to numerous doctors and nutritionists and received no help other than that I was eating too few calories.

Started ckd in December. Gained 9 pounds and finally lost that, plus 2 additional pounds mid-March. I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian so eat only dairy, eggs, whey and nuts for my protein.

I have been lifting weights for years. I've just done it to maintain my strength for my sport, not to bodybuild.

As I posted earlier, my goal is to strip muscle bulk (legs) and lose fat while maintaining strength.

The plan I posted uses relatively light weights, short reps and works two or three muscle groups, usually on opposing sides of the body. I expect to be finished in 45 minutes for each workout.

Since I'm on ckd, Friday's a multi set full body circuit workout at reduced weights and higher reps.

I thought you were trying to start a bodybuilding program, which is why I wanted to point you in the right direction. Had I known you were training for something sports-specific, and for your metaboliuc disorder, I would not have dismissed the training ideas as "not solid". But you dont seriously expect anyone to know about a topic you posted soemwhere not even in this board, without even a link? Even if I did see it, I wouldnt remember the user name.

The reason I dont like people using set weights is that you get stronger every now and then, and the weights will become useless. You will come to a point where youre just going through the movement. By this time most lifters will have added weight, while you will have done nothing. Whats the point of a journal if not to keep track of your progression in weights and size, anyway?

I follow a school of thought that stresses the importance of short, intense, simple, and progressively overloading workouts when it comes to bodybuilding, and I think that your program would fail, if you were trying to build optimal muscle, because you waste recovery time on things like "butt scissors".

This could have been avoided if you had even hinted at your goals and reasons and science behind your training program. The only words you wrote were what is in your program.

You sound stuck up, Eyes Open. These friendly and very informative teens attempt to give you advice and you shoot them down on uncalled-for terms.

Perhaps if you explained your workout program along with your goals and why you are training the way you are training people would understand your reasoning. To me, it seems as if you were trying to get a rise out of people by not posting relevant information.

As it's been said before, you're posting your journal on a message board predominately composed of teens and twenty-somethings. You will receive criticism if you decide not to provide ample information. What the hell else would you expect?

You definately won't receive much criticism (the good kind) if you continue to hold a haughty attitude such as yours, Eyes Open.

Yep, that's what the stickey says, but obviously this is an open post to whoever wants to comment. Why not just write your journals in Word if you rather deal with opinions, however wrong they might be?

Seriously, what's the big deal? You don't have to be so angry towards people who honestly don't want to offend you. Reading your previous posts in other sections, you obviously have a knowledge of whatever sport you are pursuing; there is no need to disrespect others trying to lend a helping hand. If you don't want their help, try being polite and tell them without disrespecting them!

What type of sporting events do you participate in?

    1) This is a bodybuilding, forum, which is why I expected you to have bodybuilding-oriented goals. You did nto state otherwise. Thats why I offered advice, you would see better progress as a bodybuilder if you followed it. Why would you expect me to know everything about you? Youre a complete stranger that I was just trying to help out.

    2) I guess you do knwo what youre doing, but it doesnt make sense why you plan to use the same weights for every workout. Maybe you should explain yourself, that way it would be eaiser for others to folow your progress. We dont even know what sport your playing, let alone what you want to do for it!

    3) Im not speaking to you like your a beginner. Im trying to ration with you about why there is no need to argue- it was just a misunderstanding. Get over it. Im not even arguing with you about training, now its just because of the fact that youre flaming me and claiming that I know nothing. Youre supposed to be more mature than that.

    4) I ahvent seen you post any progress yet. Since this is your journal, why dont you write how your workouts feel, what you could improve on, etc. if your not going to keep track of resistance or change it.
