Pirotess' Journal!
Hi!
I've been browsing these forums for a while now (my boyfriend enjoys powerlifting and olympic lifting a lot) and finally decided that I would like to keep a journal to keep track of my progress and to stay motivated. I am 22, 5'10", and about 215 lbs atm. I've been working out at the YMCA for about 2 months and now go 6 days a week. Since I work out with my boyfriend, I do a lot of free weight excercises and I do cardio 4 days a week. I'm not really sure what kind of weight I've lost since beginning to work out (I don't like scales!) but I have lost 5 inches on my waist since last time I measured. I am also feeling a lot better about myself and feeling leaner. My goals are basically to lose body fat %, gain strength, and muscle tone.
Here are my current lifts:
Bench - 115 lbs
Incline - 95 lbs
Deadlift - 145 lbs
Power Clean - 75 lbs
Squats - Bodyweight x 15 (I just started doing these today and need to work on my balance and form!)
I am eating about 5-6 healthy meals a day, for a total of about 2000-2200 calories.

Lower Body Day!
Stretching - 10 minutes
Squats
Bodyweight x 10 reps x 5 sets
Wall Sits
20 second holds x 5 sets
SLDL
45 lbs x 12 reps x 3 sets
Hanging Knee-Ups
10 reps x 3 sets
Walked home for cardio... slowly! My legs were pretty tight, especially after those 20 second holds, but my hamstrings felt good. I'm finally used to the SLDL's. It was my first day doing squatties and they are tough to get the hang of! I like them, though!

Thanks, Garin! I am very lucky to have my boyfriend to help me the way he does. I am pretty proud of my accomplishments so far and it can only get better. Thanks for posting (even if it is in the female section).

Thanks for the welcomes, Lou and Teriliel! Glad to be here. Garin, you had better start visiting the female section... you might learn something! Hehe.
Today is my off day for workouts, but my quads are sore from yesterday's squats. The stairs up to our apartment are the devil! Kinda cheated on meals today, but had a fun day. Enjoyed authentic Korean cuisine at a restaurant that let's you cook your food on a wood B.B.Q. at the table. It was delicious, but spicy! Saw a matinee showing of Dawn of the Dead (couldn't find a place showing Taking Lives, and didn't want to wait for the showing of Walking Tall) and then got some ice cream. We rented a few more movies at Blockbuster and are about to watch them. We might order in something, but we've earned our cheat day.
Back to the healthy grind tomorrow!

Felt good today, was a great workout!! I widened my grip a bit on the bench press and it felt a lot stronger. My quads were still a tad sore, but nothing to write home about.
My diet for today was:
9:00 a.m. - grapefruit w/ 2 packets Splenda
10:00 a.m. - 2 slices multi-grain toast, 2 whole eggs
12:00 p.m. - 2 bottles of Propel during exercise

My boyfriend is cooking my crab tonight, so I haven't had my last meal yet.

Stretching - 15 minutes
Cardio
Elliptical Trainer - 33 minutes, 350 calories burned! Also walked home from the gym.
Stretching - 10 minutes
SLDL
45 lbs x 12 reps x 3 sets
Deadlifts
95 lbs x 8 reps x 3 sets
Sumo Deadlifts
95 lbs x 10 reps x 2 sets
Good Mornings
25 lbs x 10 reps
45 lbs x 10 reps x 3 sets
Hanging Knee Raises

I should have gotten more sleep last night! Cardio felt really good today although I was pretty tired... it woke me up. I can feel my abs are getting stronger... especially since I'm not sore when I go to work them out again. I tried to do Good Mornings before, but the bar was really heavy against my traps... but I put a little pad on it and that went great!
My diet for today was:
7:30 a.m. - grapefruit w/ 2 packets Splenda, 2 slices multi-grain toast, 2 whole eggs
12:00 p.m. - 2 bottles of Propel during exercise
2:00 p.m. - wheat crackers, cheddar cheese, 1 bottle of Propel
4:30 p.m. - 1/4 cup pistachios, 1/4 cup peanuts
7:00 p.m. - Paprika Pork (lean pork tenderloin, onions, tomatoes, red peppers, chicken broth, various spices, plain yogurt) w/brown rice
That's it for now... dinner is cooking right now... might have another snack later.

No workout today as I couldn't make it to the gym... no biggie, just a rest day.
My diet for today was:
9:00 a.m. - grapefruit w/ 2 packets Splenda
10:30 a.m. - 2 slices multi-grain toast, 2 whole eggs, 1 bottle of Propel
12:00 p.m. - wheat crackers, cheddar cheese, 1 bottle of Propel
2:00 p.m. - 1 cup cooked brown rice
4:30 p.m. - 1/4 cup peanuts, 1 bottle of Propel
7:00 p.m. - fried (eep!) butterfly shrimp w/cocktail sauce (ketchup, horseradish, lemon, worcestershire, chili sauce)
I thought about posting a pic of what I look like now, but think I'm too skittish. I unfortunately inherited the broad shoulders and chest of my dad (think football player!) which I think makes me look disproportional. My boyfriend tells me I'm sexy and that he loves my thick ass (lol!) so maybe I'll get up the courage one of these days. I really missed the gym today... so I'm really looking forward to going tomorrow.

No workout today, and not really missing the gym, either. Too stressed out!
I had a job interview today which I was late for because of the damn bus schedule. My interviewer was understanding as she had had a car break down on a way to one of the interviews she's had in the past. I really like the company, though, and am keeping my fingers crossed for this job! Only problem is... it's a cookie company! LOL! The interviewer even gave me a box of cookies when the interview was over. I don't know what I'm gonna do with myself, but I stuck them in the freezer so they wouldn't go bad (they have no preservatives).
I'm going to go to the gym tomorrow.
My diet for today was:
8:00 a.m. - Grapefruit w/ 2 Splenda, 2 whole eggs, 2 slices multi-grain toast
12:00 p.m. - 1 Madeleine (french cookie) during interview =P
2:00 p.m. - Rye Krisps and pepper-jack cheese, Propel
5:00 p.m. - 1 cup peanuts (shelled for measurement)
7:00 p.m. - Unagi (b.b.q.'d eel) w/white rice

Looking real strong. THROW THOSE COOKIES AWAY! It might be hard doing it but drop them into the trash and don't look back. YOU CAN DO IT! Inclines esp look strong! Keep it up, things are going great.

Hehe. Nah... no need to throw them away. We already have a few packages of fine cookies in the cabinet already. Stew doesn't eat them, and I have enough willpower that I don't pig out on them. We keep them around to satiate my sweet-tooth (with only one cookie) when I need to save my sanity. I already gave up probably my biggest vice... soda... now I drink diet, which I used to loathe. By the way... thanks for stopping in, Garin!
Anyway... haven't posted for a couple days... so here's what I've been up to.
4/10/04
Stretching - 10 minutes
Squats (Got the balance of these, did not need to hold the squat rack)
Bodyweight x 12 reps
15 lbs x 12 reps x 3 sets
14" Box Squats
15 lbs x 12 reps x 3 sets
Wall Sits
30 seconds x 5 sets
SLDL
45 lbs x 15 reps x 3 sets
Cardio
Elliptical Trainer- 33 minutes, 300 calories burned! Walked home, too.
My diet for today was:
9:00 a.m. - Grapefruit w/ 2 Splenda
10:30 a.m. - 2 eggs, 2 slices of multi-grain toast
12:00 p.m. - Propel
2:00 p.m. - wheat crackers and cheddar cheese
5:00 p.m. - 1 Yoplait non-fat yogurt
7:00 p.m. - Sushi
I took it easy on the cardio today since I knew I was gonna have to walk home and my legs were already pretty dead after the workout. My legs were actually shaking during my last set of SLDL's!
