i think its fine to work chest twice a week as long as you have enough rest days in between the workouts. i do heavy chest work on monday and lighter chest work on friday

Agreed. As long as you are eating and getting enough rest go for it.
My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over...

I think it would be okay to try if you can recover fast enough. My chest is normally sore for about 5 days after training it.

5 days, holy smokes. What kind of chest workout do you do? Im lucky if my muscles are sore for 2-3 days afterwards and i usually kick my ass at the gym.

i say it's ok, but don't push it if it's still sore. some muscles get worked a little indirectly, so you have to watch out for that also. that can lead to over training, which hinders gains.
    i don't want a sig

Do it monday and Thursday so that you have 72+ hrs between workouts. Thats enough time to recover. I would train tris or shoulders with chest on monday, then the other one on thursday, with chest. That way you dont overtrain the triceps.

Also, dont do high-volume for your chest each day. Take the number of sets you usually do for chest, and spread them out over 2 workouts, so you have the same number of chest exercises each week (+/- 1). Dont do like, 10 sets for chest each time, instead 3 or 4.
