    Starting Keto advices

I am brand new to ketogenic diets and have a few questions the wisemen and women can hopefully answer.

Stats 5'8" 176pounds/76kg 25% body fat 65-70 hr, mildly high blood pressure, crappy digestion, and light activity eg lift 3/4 times a week 30-40 mins, cardio on in between days and mostly in front of a computer the rest of the time.

Right now I'm not the 40/40/20 diet and cutting 500 cals from my bmr around 1300 cals. I'm kinda following John Stone's food log, similarity amount of calories except he's a lot bigger than me and less fat. I have that annoying skinny fat trait. So will chaning to keto put a lot of stress on my system, ie digestion, blood pressure, cholestrol. My mum keeps giving me the sour look when I'm eating eggs, and I usually throw away all but one of the yolks. With keto, it's recommended to eat the whole thing.

Also I'm worried about ketoacidosis and how can I tell if I am in that stage of ketosis because the senses will probably be screwed up anyways from the change. And do most people go keto one week or one month and then go back to 40/40/20 when bulking up? Thanks for any advices

I bet at least some of the guys here on the keto forum will agree with me when I say that some of your ailments may have been caused by eating carbs, sugars, and empty calories in excess in the past. That crap doesn't do anybody any good.

If nothing else, try going low carb for a while and see if some of those symptoms disappear.

A great deal of people on the low carb diet now stay relatively low carb year round. Personally, I both bulk and cut eating low-moderate carbs around the calendar. I only manipulate the total calorie intake for the day.

And don't worry about ketoacidosis or most of the rumors spread about low-carb diets. If they were true, there would be an epidemic on these forums as well as the thousands of other low-carb and Atkins forums around the 'net.

If you are skinny-fat, though, perhaps you ought to consider bulking before trying to lose fat... If your metabolism really is as low as you say it is, then it may not facilitate an attempt on your part to lose any more fat. When I was faced with the skinny-fat syndrome, the first thing I did was stuff my face with some extra barbequed chicken breasts, jump off the treadmill, and incorporated squats into my weightlifting regimen.

BTW, I also got started on the John Stone fitness page! That dude rocks!!

Yeah he does! His titan home gym is awesome, I hope I could get something like that in the future.

I'm trying to get my metabolism up now doing HIIT on the treadmill, seems to be working. I've only really been at it for the past two weeks so time will tell. The rapid fat loss of keto has me very interested though.
