I'm 19, i weigh 230. Yeah i also squat and deadlift. I jus quit doing them for about a month before the meet so my bench would go up a little bit more. It was just a bench meet. Before i stopped squating and deadlifting i was squatting about 600 and deadlifting around 575. I am actually going to focus on getting them up now. I know that i could've hit 580. I flew 565 up. I would like to try on a denim and see how much i can do. Them single polysters just don't help that much.

It was a local meet that an old powerlifter puts on. When i go to Texas for the USAPL Nationals i will break the 18-19 year old record. I think right now the record is like 505 or so. That isn't until September. I should be hitting 600 by then. How did your first meet go Big Bencher? Remember: Train hard, train smart.

oh sorry, congratulations man, thats truly awesome
By the way, he wants to eventually hold the teen bench press record (which I believe is currently 655).

it seems like the first person thats gonna hit 1000 pounds on the bench will have the newest, tightest, most expensive bench shirt on. Im not against bench shirts totally, but this is just getting ridiculous.

Oh please shut the **** up when it comes to this goddamn topic. Ill bet neither of you have used any kind of shirt in the past, doubt you know what your talking about. It's how powerlifting has evolved, if you cant handle it then get the **** out of this forum. This has been argued so many friggen times and nobody ever wins the argument. It's an uphill battle, there is no right or wrong answer. And anyway, this dude did it in a single poly and those are pretty close to RAW if you know anything. That in a single poly is very respectable, but all lifters should be respected for whatever equipment they wear. This is such an easy thing to avoid, if you dont agree with equipment, lift in a RAW fed. If you like equipment, lift in a fed that allows whatever kind of equipment. Choose a fed and SHUT THE **** UP ABOUT IT! Good job BTW bro, thats an awesome bench press. Youll be in the 600 club in no time.Last edited by PainThriller; 04-09-2004 at 07:08 PM.

"That happened awhile ago bro. You're talking about Muscle and Fitness right?
Scott Mendleson will break 1,000 soon, if everything goes right for him."
this was posted by heisman
then i (britt72) agreed
yo pain i wasnt agreeing with the above poster i already made a thread about how shirted benching is essential for powerlifting,(i myself lift raw like you) but i was agreeing with heisman
i know that raw- and or shirted lifting is very arguable and ends up in one big circle, but the fact is shirted lifting is what competitive powerlifting is about, but it really is what peoples beliefs are, i lift raw because thats what im good at and use to, much like you ,i might try shirted in the near future, anyway
good job on deadlifting 500, 405 on the bench will be ures in no time
later
