a score does not need to be orchestral.
anyways, If we are using that as the criteria...
I agree on gladiator and LOTM.
the main theme from last of the mohicans was the first track I ever sampled. I love that joint.

Superman, Indiana Jones, Gladiator, LOTR, but my favourite would be
STAR WARS

according to me it does i know its not exact, but *I* consider orchestral = score, songs = soundtrack
if it was soundtrack Rocky, etc would be up there
i mean based on my criteria

Thats not a bad list, but I would definetly have The Last of the Mohicans higher. Rob Roy also has a great score, at least a top ten.
This is mine...
1. Braveheart
2. The Last of the Mohicans
3. Schindler's List
4. Rob Roy
5. Platoon
Gladiator, Legends of the Fall, and LOTR all get honorable mention.
-
Livestrong
mm..never heard Rob Roy's nor seen it
same with platoon
-
Mediator
1.) Apocalypse Now
2.) Braveheart
3.) Saving Private Ryan
4.) Platoon
5.) Go (music in that fit perfectly with the film)
**edit** I didn't see the part where score was orchestral, so take off Go and add Star Wars

28 Days Later has some nice music in it. Especially since they play a track by Godspeed You Black Emperor.
For those of you who are interested, GYBE plays songs that are almost always 20 minutes or so and are all instrumental. It's not new age crap, but rather very ominous at times. Check them out if you want.

Bump on Conan the Barbarian, very musical. I also like the score from the movie Crimson tide with Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman, it gave me the chivers
