Yea so ive been told , i was just hitting the high reps because i almost never do these and figured id better prepare my body for the mechanics of the lift with higher reps. So stick to sets of 5?

Back in the early 80's I trained at Giordano's in NJ. If you know Olympic lifting, then you know who Phil Grippaldi is. He and a few other Olympic caliber lifters trained there and he rarely did more than 3 reps of snatches or cleans in his workouts. The man was a beast.

I think im just gonna do sets of 3 going up 5-10lbs every set for maybe 4-5 sets then singles for maybe 2-4 sets. How does that sound? Also do you think i should leave some in the tank or go for an all out max?

use 5 reps for the first warmup set, 3 reps for the 2nd set, and then singles leading up to your top weight.
always try to leave something in the tank, especially for the o-lifts training to failure will make you weaker, with that being said you go up for a max for that particular training day, but NOT an all out max every week.'Prior to the Department of Education, there was no illiteracy'
