my left ankle hurts
i can still run and all after i warmed up without it hurting but when i sit, or stand up/walk after sitting it hurts...i was jogging outside and kinda tripped over a loose tile so i think i sprained it but i can still do everything......sooooooo should i just do things as long as they dont hurt while im doing them and itll heal over time?

hey, i had a major sprain on my ankle where it was swollen for a week. it took me months to recover and i was on crutches for some time! in comparison, it seems you will be relatively fine. a couple suggestions even though i am not a doctor. firstly, give it a week to heal - dont do hard running or rollerblading but swim, maybe a stationary bike on light tension just to maintain flexibility.
for strength, jump on a wobble board every day. i do it in between sets, but do it several times whenever you can. its the best thing i have started to do and you will really notice your balance and strength in the ankles! hope that helped! good luck!

aww ty yeah i went running earlier today and i tripped over an uneven tile this time, and now my ankle hurts ALL the time (although just a little bit), i walked back home after it happened.....soooooooo i wont run i guess till it stops hurting. ive been stretching it out for 10 minutes but it still hurts, what should i do now?
i think my left ankle is just really weak, i just remembered 3 months ago or so (to a year, i get these periods of time when my joints are weakened or something) whenever i went on the elliptical my left ankle like 50% of the time started hurting somewhere in between my cardio workout (although not bad enough that i couldnt continue, and itd leave after 5 mins or so of continueing).

its not my shoes lol i dont think its coincidental that it keeps happening to my left ankle, but these two times when i tripped over a tile were both in the same street while i decided to go on the sidewalk for a bit, i think from now on ill stay on the streets (they are smoother, no stupid tiles).
i wanna go run in a bit but im not sure if my ankle can handle it.. oh well ill try and get back if it starts hurting.

yeah it sounds fairly minor, if it doesn't hurt like a bitch i would run. you likely arent going to make it worse

take some ibuprofen and ice it, possibly overuse is the cause of the cramping, what maddens you?

We did a ****load of running in the army and I found what worked best for me was to rest whenever possible. I've had alot of bad ankle injuries to both of them and they have never been 100% since. I would take a break from running for a while so whatever is wrong with you ankle has a chance to heal.

If you feel like you just have to run there are some braces you could wear for support. I have used one in the past and it did help for supporting the ankle but didn't make it heal and quicker.

thanks guys, if it still hurts tomorrow i wont go running (ill just lift tomorrow then or something)... its still hurting man it sucks. anyways will ibuprofen help it heal cos its anti inflammatory or osmething?

Anti inflammatory medication will help but only taking it 1 time won't. It has to work over time.

yeah when i had tendonitis, could be what you have, i was physically unable to walk for 3 days. went to wal-mart(USA) rode the scooter around and got some advil cause i dont have the need to stock medicine in my place, most of the pain went away in a couple days, it was still aggrivated a month after. anyways, dont wear sandles or any flat bottom shoes.
i could just kiss it for you

hmm ok well ive been massaging my left ankle/calves for an hr now while miscing so i think its safe to go running now i hope it doesnt start hurting again after a couple of minutes.

if it does, and the pain/swelling progresses, you ve definitely caused trauma to at least one the tendons, and you'll need to take a break

aww damn it my body is too ****ing weak to handle my workouts i hate these damn injuries i get all the time
anyways i went running so i walked for half a minute (pre-warming up) then wanted to jog for a bit (warming up) but the first step (jump?) i took on my left foot had me screaming out in pain so i guess no running the next couple of days, ill just have to go to the gym (which is closed today AND tomorrow **** that) and go on the elliptical for my cardio i guess.

stupid ankle.. ive probably been walking bad the past week because of it now my entire left side hurts
first just my left ankle, then my left calves too, then my left shins, and now my left lower back now (strictly above my left leg, right lower back is fine) and normally those places never get injured.

yeah, cause you're compensating for the original injury, maybe you should get an x-ray

lol i think an x ray is a bit excessive since i already know what the problem is (bad walking cos of my ankle) but yeah now my left knee is hurting as well.
oh well since im having my wisdom teeth extracted nxt monday, i guess ill stay in bed and rest a couple of days, while my mouth is recovering my leg can as well.

You don't have tendon damage most likely. A sprain is ligament damage.
Since you are able to walk and the swelling isn't huge and unsightly. Its probably a pulled/stretched ligament and not a torn ligament (or torn tendon).
Recurrence of ankle injuries is high because after you stretch a ligament that far (severe sprain without separation from bone or tearing) it typically does not go back to its original length. So repeat sprains are more common.
Look up exercises on how to work your ankle stabilizers. You should probably wait till after your ankle heals for a few weeks before performing those exercises.
Continue taking NSAIDs (Advil) to keep the inflammation down and to promote healing.
-Good Luck

okay well i just went to the gym, and when i put all the pressure on my right leg it actually doesn't hurt at all (except my calves but i figured out a way how not to use my left calf on the elliptical either), so i now im having second thoughts about my wisdom teeth extraction cos now i just remembered that last time my right side of my face inflated twice its size (this time im having the left side removed) for a week, so i dont see myself in the gym the day after...ah well i might cancel it.

Hey again, stranger;
Although it sounds like you might need to stay off of your ankle for a bit, unless you can find a *painless* workaround, perhaps try some myofascial release. My body's been through quite the ringer in my short time here, and it's helped me some.
I can't find a 'how-to' guide, but here's the wiki on what myofascial release is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myofascial_Release
I just use one of those 'noodles' they have in the gym (looks like a pool noodle) and roll out my muscles as if I were flattening dough. I hold for 8-25 seconds when I feel a problem spot, but you gotta make sure to do this slowly so that the muscles don't tense up - you want them completely relaxed.
I'll second the reccomendation on taking NSAIDs like Advil. Just keep stretchin' that leg.
