Protein Shakes vs Weight Gainers
I'm trying to add mass and weight onto my frame but i have a very fast metabolism. I've heard different things from different people about whey protein shakes and weight gainers. Some say weight gainers aren't healthy and recommend taking protein shakes as an alternative. I had planned on taking protein shakes immedietly after working out and reserving weight gainers for non work out days. What would you recommend?

Post workout whey would be better because it has a higher concentration of whey than my example weight gainers (optimum pro complex gainer and isopure mass) who also contain casein and egg proteins.
Just for diet supplementation good weight gainers are great (50ish grams of protein, 80sh grams of carbs and only 3-4 grams of sugar)
What you want to not take is crap like cytogainer and that crap thats like 40000 grams of sugar and loads of saturated fat and cholesterol

Ite thanks I think I'll take the whey protein shakes post workout and find some recipes about making good, natural weight gainers which are alot healthier...or if everyone can agree on a weight gainer that does really work and isnt loaded with fat and sugar that'd save me lots of time too.

Shouldnt you take the cytogainer before bed instead of the whey since the whey digests quicker?

Something like casein protein is what you want to take before bed. I haven't really looked into weightgainers because personally I don't need them right now, but casein protein is what you want before you go to bed because it gets absorbed and digested slower than regular protein.

provide me with any evidence that cytogainer is a good weight gainer. Comming form the person who has two bodybuilders in the family and your mom is appearently a nutritionist, but still thinks that doing curls every day is a good idea, I don't think you are in the place to criticize me.

Yes I know so little. I've read 6 books on bodybuilding. I've read the labels of every single weight gainer on bodybuilding.com and looked up all of the stuff inside them. I am not speaking out of my ass with no experience I've used cytogainer, nlarge2, optimum pro complex gainer, isomass, russian bear, gnc mass gainer and a few others. I'm speaking from experience that if you want the best quality product you should go with the two i listed because they have little sugar and high amounts of complex carbs

I mean i suppose if you have extra money....then i guess get some weight gainer wouldnt hurt. Otherwise just spend what you got on some food and protein. Weight gainer is not needed

Ite so one thinks cytogainer is good, another thinks its bad, and more of yall think other ones are good...now i dont know which one to pick. I know fats are needed to gain weight i didnt mean they were bad or anything in the other post. The point of this thread was to find a reliable weight gainer with good results and minimal side effects (excess fat buildup from cheap ingredients, etc). CAN YALL AGREE ON ATLEAST 3 GAINERS? Then out of those i guess i'll just get which ones more affordable or tastes better and whatnot. I know they're not completely necessary but i'd like to gain some weight that's obviously the main reason I'm trying to find a good one. Muchos gracias for all the info by the way.

from what i read in the above links..it looks like isopure is the best one, most fiber, same protein and carbs as the other two but less cholesterol and sugar.

Yea isopure sounds good but that ****s hella expensive at GNC mayne its like 60 bux for a 8 pound tub. Screw it, i think for now i'll stick to just whey shakes and see if i cant gain weight little by little off that. If not, i'll try the isopure later. Thanks again

my first meal of the day every workout day is a Quick Mass shake, 57g of protein, 160+g of carbs and only 15g of fat, not to mention the carbs come from 5 DE maltodextrin which is an excellent carb source

You should just make your own weight gainer... MUCH cheaper, and probably tastes like 10x better... since one of my wisdom teeth is comin in and got infeected its hard to eat cus my jaw is like swollen shut, ive been makin em to get as much calories as i can... i just throw in some ice cream, a scoop of whey, skim milk, and some peanut butter... so good
