Bodybuilders from THEN and NOW
the steroids of todayreally dont seem much stronger than steroids of back then. possibly only making the bodybuilders more lazy to work hard. also seems like hgh is only good for making a big stomach.

I prefer the old school look but if Ronnie's waist was about 2 inches smaller then his physique would look so much more appealing. The only physique I could ever achieve would be Frank Zane's. Otherwise I am probably dead in the water

Several things stand out as amazing.
1)How much bigger Ronnie's quads are, but it almost looks like Arnold has as much if not more seperation. We must keep in mind that the old schoolers didn't desire legs that big. It wasn't considered appealing.
2) The waist difference. This alone makes the old guys in my opinion that much greater. Ronnie has a lot more upper body mass, but with the TINY waist Arnold sweep ratio just blows him away.
If you want shock and awe Ronnie wins hands down. It you want sex appeal Arnold wins hands down. Probably the 2 greatest ever, just depends on what your goals are. I think most guys lift for the p*ssy so I think as long as that is what the ladies go for that is what most guys will strive for.

How do you even know that? You're barely 16.

i think that arnold has the better physique by far, and im sure about how the legs are much smaller could be due to lack of training and sex appeal. ronnie looks like a complete retard on stage but nowadays its the more rediculously stupid big you look the more you win. i would like to see other pics of these two animals though if anyone has anything to offer!

i cant believe you guys take the picture seriously
If they really stood next to each other, Ronnie would wipe him off stage....Worst pic of Ronnie and that black and white pic of Arnold is making him more ripped than he really is

Exactly.
Old school bodybuilding = art
Today's bodybuilding = mass monsters
I like both a lot, arnold is a legend and so is ronnie

Here's a fresh comparison I made:
Interesting stuff, especially in the size of the chest.

Considering Ronnie's waist is about 8 inches larger than Arnold's even though he's 4 inches shorter...man I'm sorry IFBB guys now just don't compare.

Not to scale...Arnold is 6'2", Ronnie's 5'10". Arnold's chest STILL looks bigger in that picture.

That's a better comparison, Victor is a real new era bb'er. Now, in the 25th Anniversary Edition of Pumping Iron Arnold makes a comment on steroids. He admits to using them but claims that back then the guys would ONLY take them in the pre-contest phase (maybe 3 months leading into the contest)......not all year long like todays bb'ers. Ever notice those photos of Arnie where he looks like he weighs about 180lbs???? well he probably does in those pics......then he jacks up the gear and pumps up to 240lbs contest condition. hGH wasn't as popular in 70's either - that's an 80's things right there.
I personally like the 70's look best as it's attainable....you look at those guys and think, "I could look like that"....today you look at Branch & Ronnie etc and think, "holy crap - they're killing themselves to look like that".

there is another picture where both Arnold and Ronnie are doing a Front fouble biceps pose and Ronnie absouletly owns him. It was the Ronnie of 1999. Far more accurate
The one the OP has is not accurate at all

Ronnie>Arnold.
Sorry. Had to say it!
lol
Everyone that knows me knows I'm a huge Ronnie fan, his videos and workouts and his story about coming up in bbing is very inspirational....I just don't get that from Arnold. Ronnie IS a bodybuilder, Arnold used it as a platform/springboard.
My .02$
(Still respect Arnie, just think he's a bit overrated.)

ya i seen those pics just like the bodybuilders of today they went on and off roids except when the pros of back then were off they looked normal and leaner now when a pro goes off the roids they are fat and bloated....but now they use more stuff then before.
here is an example of arnold off he looks still fit the guys now look like bloated marshmellows with stubby arms.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=sl-Dds6i5XM
back then they were trying to make it less obvious that they used gear...now they dont even try to hide it at all lol.
personally i hate when bodybuilders have humongous traps i like the broad shoulder look like victor has and many of the older pros had.

this picture is a little wierd, 3 inches is a lot, but in the photo they are on the same level...
I think though that ronnies chest in this pose is a little better with more stritation..., but arnie is smart he would have exploited his other strong points and simply outpose ronnie=]
but its amazing to see how far Arnold was a head in bodybuilding compared to all the other bodybuilders during his era...even in these pictures comparing arnold and ronnie 26 years later...
