Where in the country are you? There are stores that carry designer suits for less.
Almost no matter which label suit you get you will have to have it altered if you're jacked. So count on having to do that.

I just buy suits on eBay for half price (or less), and then if necessary, have the local tailor alter them so they fit the exact way I want them to.
Kerry Adkisson (1960-1993)
Steve Irwin (1962-2006)
Owen Hart (1965-1999)
Eddie Guerrero (1967-2005)
You are missed!!!

rude boy supplied some good places...especially Hugo and Jos A Banks have well made, tailored suits.
If you do buy an Italian suit, just remember a couple of things:
- If you are planning on wearing this suit for work, it needs to be the right color and not over the top. A lot of Italian suits are far too gaudy for a professional. Professional life isn't like the ***** or Prada ads.
- An Italian suit generally runs small in its tailoring. As for *****, I've owned a couple of ***** suits. The material is quality but fits much diffently. Versace is the same way. Out of all the Italian suits, I've had, Armani Collezione (sp?) is the best all around....but pricey.

you can find some good ones in the clearance bin at marshalls. sometimes they have a sidewalk sale, but only if you're lucky

Your a good man lothar...
I work in a lab for the time being and the rule is phenol only spills on nice clothing so its not for professional use =) I have personal events from my girlfriends formal to friends wedding (yes it scares me) and various other events at which I might kill myself but regardless I'm going to have to dress up.

The Dillards in my area carries Hart Shaffner Marx. I picked 2
up during their annual sale (either Labor or Memorial Day) for 300 each. They sell for around 1k at the high end dept stores like Saks and Nieman Marcus. When I need to buy a suit, I always call the dept stores and find out when the big sale is, that way you get 2 suits for the price of 1.
