Atleast for most people.
I was wondering if that is reversed for people on poor diets were they lose muscle instead of fat.
I always here about these people and see them. They are on atkins, they lose lots of weight and lots of inches. They lose the inches fast. Plus you see all the weight loss programs on tv were they lose inches so fast.
I was thinking that when on poor diet like atkins, do you lose your stomach muscle first? Exactly opposite of good diet and exercise were you lose stomach fat last.

The last place you lose your fat is your stomach, correct?

Atkins is not a bad diet when followed properly. The reason that the last fat comes from the stomach is because the body turns to it last. Same with muscle. And a large amount of fat will be used up before muscle. So no, the body does not start breaking down muscle cells on the abs first, no matter what diet it is.

where you lose weight its up to your genetics!
all the people on TV probly have good genetics which tells their body to lose the weight in their gut first! while this looks good, no matter how your genetics are if you get down to a cirtain weight, your body will burn off your gut soon enough! so dont give up! (and you will be able to keep it off unlike this fad-dieters)

Belly and manboobs for last
Isn't that a b-tch?
It seems to be Nature's way of ensuring you stay thin once you finish getting to your goal weight, as you have to look at your pudgy pot belly even though the rest of you looks pretty good.
I've been dieting and exercising for months now, but the belly and the manboobs are shrinking slowly. They are shrinking, but my body seems to be taking fat evenly from all over my body, and since I stored more of my fat on my chest and abdomen, they're the last to go.
But go they will baby! The fat's on it's way out, and it ain't coming back!
I hit the 80lb mark today. Only 30 or so lbs left to go, and then I can work on getting ripped. Turning fat to muscle may work for some people, but me, I'm going to get rid of the fat, and then gain muscle, so I can see in the mirror which it is I'm gaining.
Sweet!
Best of luck to all you other folks trying to lose weight. Cut the calories and up the cardio, and IT WILL HAPPEN!

The way your body responds to most stimuli can often be linked to genetics developed over millions of years. Its funny to think of the much, much, much bigger picture and the fact contemporary society and all its trappings are a relative "flash in the pan" toward shaping our bodies. Depending on conditions, your bodyweight can change drastically in a short time. Could you image if your center of gravity changed drastically as well? haha You'd be so uncoordinated you'd never be able to catch anything to eat and would likely starve or fall and crack your skull first chance you got! The only reason a thin wasteline is desirable is because its more difficult to obtain and sends the visual cue of low bodyfat currently viewed as attractive.
